World Aid

Can somebody tell me what the **** we get out of it???????????

I take it you actually mean Third World Aid and not World Aids,(which is a rather different thing, although also worthy of support)?
If so. the clue is in the title. We are one of the richest nations in the world and have a moral duty to support development in undeveloped or third world countries.

Can I ask you a question Scott mate..why do you see us as separate from other humans around the world who are in more need than us? Did you pick the country where you were born?

Because in my view WE ARE SEPERATE! we as humans take equality too far

We are an island nation with our own traditions our own views our own language and our own traits. We should embrace it support it and treasure it.

I DO NOT CARE ABOUT POOR NATIONS - it does not interest me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do care about my fellow countrymen on hard times.

UK FIRST

And no I did not pick the country I was born - if I was Ugandan I would be working to develop my nation!!

Bit like I was born in Rochford I support Southend and I had no choice in that had I been born in Barnsley I would have been a Barnsley fan I dont subscribe to who my father supported (West Ham) crap

I think it would be far more likely that if you were Ugandan , you would have little time to develop your nation , the bulk of the time would be spent trying to get enough to feed your family.

In between walking miles for clean water, avoiding malaria, local militia and wondering where you next meal might come from?

Please explain why they cant achieve things for themselves???

Because they are years behind us socialy so it stands to reason we should let them naturaly develop!! dont get involved step back.

Then if thats the case I will get on with doing that

And ask yourself why? The West grew rich on the raping of Africa.

Whilst rich foreign counties ignored your pleas for help.

I would get strong diplomatic ties with other african nations also clamp down on bloody warlords running about causing trouble.

And I would accept that the west is rich but I dont want hand outs I want to build something for Uganda to be proud of

Not always the case. Britain gives India £280m a year. India spends £20B a year on defence. Surely something wrong here and I know there will be plenty of "we need to help the poor people" but surely the Indian government should help their own poor people first.

Totally agree with you and I did point that out in the Kony thread.

India is indeed a tricky one. The variations of wealth in astounding. Even in Bombay you get people living in abject poverty living cheek by jowl with incredible wealth. Not only do they spend vast sums on defence (you could argue that the absolute shambles of partition in 1948 was a huge factor on their continual emnity with Pakistan), they also have a space programme with costs how many billions?

India still has an issue regarding "untouchables" and the caste system which could possibly give a glimmer of reason to why the poor stay incredibly poor and some (such as Bollywood actors) are regarded as gods.

So can we help by throwing money at them?

Steveo I just don't know. The £208M could be small fry to the amount of money we get in trade with India. If we stopped the aid, the trade links could suffer and both countries could be worse off.

Where's Neil F when you need him!

what ****es me off is all those tv adverts, you know they type. for only £5.00 a month you can keep a family of four fed for a month. Now is it me or are we paying too much for food in th UK?

for aslong as i can remember there have been collections etc for all these countries, nothings changed.
time for them to help themselves i say. our country dragged its self up from mud huts why cant they. give them tools to gorw their own crop / food & equipment to build there own homes.

on the plus side they are very good at long distance running events.
