Yes, I have a properly-worded contract which they are currently in breach of. Think I'll take legal advice tomorrow if it doesn't get sorted today.

At the risk of repeating myself, find out the person responsible for you not being paid and go and talk to them face to face and see what is happening. If they blame it on a flaw in the system, demand payment temporary payment from the petty cash tin until they sort it.

Any reference to system error is bollocks, as the system is told what to do by a "human". If your line manager doesn't do anything then you have no alternative but to go over his head, even if that will not endear you to him.

My Salary was returned to the company last month because my account numbers had been changed and the letter advising me that the old numbers would no longer be accepted was "lost"

No it isn't, firestorm, it's a Nationwide one. Incidentally, those with Barclays accounts got held up, but have been paid today.

if it is limited to certain bank accounts it does seem to be a sort code related computer / Bacs issue.

Not been paid yet this month (second month out of three that it's been late). No warning given that it was going to happen; no apology that it has and no explanation as to why. Spoken to Nationwide and they say that there's no payment pending, so it isn't even being processed.

As far as I'm aware, they've no intention of getting rid of me - in fact I've already been promoted and had a pay rise since I've been there.

I've complained to my line manager and the accounts department. The former doesn't blame me for being hacked off but just wants me to sit tight until it's sorted, the latter claims that I've been paid, which is patently untrue.

I'm not currently in a position where the money is 'needed', per se - it's a complete matter of principle. Unusually, for Mr Cocky-know-it-all-Orient-fan I'm at a bit of a loss to be honest. So, SZers, what should I do?

Take the money from the till or safe and leave a receipt.

This is known as equitable off-set. You are entitled to take what is owed to you and there is no theft.
