Fact is a fit Barry Corr could make such a huge difference to this team and the style of play WOULD work if that was the case. I also think a fit Corr would bring out the very best in Harris (who to be fair was decent towards the end of the season) and - if he signs - Eastwood......

As I said on another thread though it is imperative we keep Hall - I don't see the likes of Corr or Mohsni being anywhere near as prolific if he is sold. He is as close to irreplaceable as you can get for SUFC.

Personally would like to see some real pace. If teams take hall out of the game then we are out if the game. And people think that hall its quick but but he isn't. Martin for me has been disappointing so another winger is essential as its a decent left back.

nowknownasdrab is entitled to his opinion.

Oh how droll. What a wit your friends must think you are. How silly of me to think a post on a forum was open to reply. I realise now if Cluniemore writes anything I must in future merely absorb the wisdom and not be so arrogant as to have an opinion of my own or deem it necessary to share it. Dream on.

Last time I defend your right to free speech.

If that's not good enough go somewhere else.

Thanks cluniemore for the update

we are all hoping we can finish the Job of next season :-) so close but for far

I think we should all appreciate the info from "within" whenever we get it, rather than the " my mate knows someone who walks the dog of the cleaner of the office at roots hall and heard..." stories from some who post on here. I am personally grateful that we are still in the league at all, what PS and his staff have achieved in their tenure, despite the disappointment of last season, is remarkable and deserves our praise, it is widely recognised in football circles what he has achieved but not amongst our own supporters, some will never be satisfied.
I cant wait for next season to start, optimism, pessimism, elation, disappointment all the joys of being a football supporter for another season at SUFC.
UTB!!!!!!!!!!!

"A midfielder who is comfortable facing the defence and coming short to pick up short simple balls from the defence and then spread the play (Maher in his prime etc) would be very usefull as none of ours at the moment seem to have that quality."

Precisely. A defender boots it up their end (so to speak) because there is no other option.

Can't we just look forward to the pre season and the start of the season and stop harping back to last season, Christ with what Sturrock started with I was amazed we did so well let's see how he does this season.

Think you are being a bit harsh on Martin, Sturrock doesn't like 2 out and out wingers and being in and out of the side seems to have affected him.

However until he signed, Hall was going through a really poor patch and maybe the competition for his place upped his game again (or maybe it was just a coincidence).

Therefore maybe with a proper pre-season with the club, we might see a better player next season, I certainly saw enough to know he has something. Therefore if we did lose Hall (though it would be a loss) as long as we got some decent money for him, way more than 100K, maybe we already have a replacement and the money can be used elsewhere.

I would say, that Mr Sturrock don't change his tactic away from home, as its worked well and I can't complain as I been to 7 away game and won 6 :P - just play same football like we did at home in last 5 games. We are 2 or 3 quality players short of having a promotion winning side.

Doubt if that will happen last year at a training session game play was stopped because a player did that and in no uncertain terms was ripped into in front of every one even tho it had led to an attack and told not to do that, the instruction was clear
the defence were to move it long and hit the forwards .So i dont think that is the type of player PS will either sign or use

Not saying we are "Barcelona" but they have not got a target man, only le god Messi . You don't need a target man in any side just players who don't give the ball away. And if you do...go get it back!

I don't want to get into the "hoofball or not hoofball" debate but I am hopeful that the team has improved as a unit from the season that we have just finished - and I agree with a comment above that we need a settled pre-season coupled with a few (but not many) new faces.

Then we just need to keep relatively free of injuries and keep the yellow and red card tally down ...... I don't know if the statistics confirm this but I feel this is just what happens when you get a winning and confident team.
