Will we sign another striker? And if so, when?

Will we sign another striker to replace Eastwood?

The pricing I'm certainly with you on. If we want to replace Eastwiood with an equal player, it will probably cost us the sameamount so we have to look to bring someone through.

I'd love to think that MacDonald is the one but very few players can go from conference to League One.

Even if he did provide, say, 15-20 (which I think would be a good return), one of the other strikers would need to make a genuine stake for a place in the team with either a similar amount of goals or around 8-10 goals and a fair few assists. Again, from what I've seen, only Hooper looks like he might offer this but he's young and inexperienced.

Part of me wonders a) whether we could prise Holt from Forest for a decent price and b) whether he could stay injury free.

.

Pah, you are forgetting Harrold banged in 3 in 45 minutes.

If he does that for the whole of next season he will score
276 goals. Thats of course absurd as it was only Whitham so lets say he only scores 10% of that, still 27 goals.

See makes perfect sense.

Ah I spot my coat. Ill go get it.

If Hooper is the same as MacDonald and he (and therefore presumably both?) aren't the answer to our goalscoring situation then we're in a World of trouble.

Nobody in our squad has proved that they can score regularly at this level or even L2. I think Tilson will be wise to bring a player in that done it maybe at a higher level in a goater-esque signing or look abroad at the cheap in leagues of equivalent standard.

Between the 48 teams that make up this level and the 4th division, how many proven goalscorers are there?

This reminds of a question Bob Dylan was asked in mid-60s (I saw it on film long afterwards, honest) which was "How many protest singers are there" and he paused and replied something like "143"

On a more relevant note, Charles Ademeno was only one of our squad who didn't get a run out on Saturday, so unless he's injured, and I haven't seen any reports to say he is , then this suggests we've already got more strikers than we need, so I can't see us signing any more. In fact, if we do get this Zoltan whats-his-name then I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't make any more signings before start of season. We would have 23 players which is the number that Paul Brush mentioned at end of last season as being the ideal number.

I think that if a new striker comes in, it will be January (if needed). Whilst we don't have Freddy & The Goat up front this season (as we did last time in this league) - I think it is fair to say our midfield is substantially better than 2 years ago (I'd argue we have the best midfield in this league actually). Bossing the midfield will lead to more chances for the strikers that we do have. I also expect many of our players from midfield will chip in with goals: JCR is no longer afraid to shoot, Maher, McCormack & Gower have never been shot shy either and Moussa looks quality. I don't think we'll set the league alight by any means but I'm confident we'll have a good run for the playoffs....keep the faith!

completely agree:p

Agree with most of it but dont forget JCR gonna be on bench a lot as bailey prob gonna be first choice right mid, and from what i heard he loves a popat goal.

what about tommy black?! he was impressive today

Bailey is more a CM and Black is the cover fo the wide right. Tilson rates JCR and i see him starting most games for us.

Do we know where the London Lite rumour about us going in for that Luton striker came from, and if there was any truth in it? My Luton mate was horrified at the prospect of losing him, and said he was one of the best things they had, and only his injury last season stopped him from securing a first team place each week.
