I dunno but I've got this feeling that Tilly might call it a day and move on to pastures new having acheived all he can at the Shrimpers.
How many times can a manager be expected to constantly have to rebuild a team from one season to the next?
I think he has done wonders with the resources he has had (though I don't always like what he does) but having to constantly sign loan or low budget players who then leave must be soul destroying for him.
It must be like building a house of cards only for the wind to blow them all down time after time.
For me its now 'put up or shut up' time for Ron Martin. With the new stadium plans granted, and the shares for players issue now done, any excuses he had for not funding summer signings have gone.
Imo if the funding does not come then Tilly will be off... and I wouldn't blame him.
I hope both he and Brushy stay for the long term: though it's just a job for him at the end of the day.
If he was offered a big wedge from a Championship or Prem club, who can blame him for jumping ship?
whereas a cpl of years ago, when we got promoted into the CCC, Tilly was making people sit up and look, and was a hot commodity. Now after being generally outplayed by most teams in the CCC, as well as showing signs of tactical naievety in that season as well as this, I dont think he's quite the saught after manager he once was. Yes, still young with time to learn, and please please please, let it be with us, but another season where a lot is offered and little delivered, I could see the Tilly brush love affair turning sour.

i mean, plenty of times in the past, on here, we have moaned about one aspect or another of his management...substitutions, positioning of players, tactics..all questionable, if not naieve, or just too damn late. Well done, we got into the play offs, but others outside of the club would start to put big questions against his tactical awareness, timing, judgement and descision making.
This is where I'm not sure. He'll be here next season, I'm sure. If we end up in the same position this time next year, that might be a different story as I'm sure he has ambition.
I think Tilson is still learning his trade, given him time he will be a top draw manager, hoping for you its with Southend.
