Will King Kev be Recalled From Gills for Play Offs?

If Bailey & McCormack are available then I don't see what Maher would bring to the squad. If one of them were to pick up an injury or suspension against Port Vale then I suppose that there could be an argument for Maher to be considered for the Playoffs but, in my honest opinion, I think it would be a huge backwards step.

Personally I don't think Maher will be coming back to us, as sad as I am to say that, but I do think Grant will be signing for us next season.

I am nervous enough about the playoffs already, and I think so are many of my fellow shrimpers and I am happy with the squad we have.

I think we should go into this playoffs not showing any signs of little confidence in players and not upset the balance.

this might be based on no evidence and unfair, but i would rather the moose be 3rd choice than maher.

I rather think he'll be back anyway as he was signed to the end of the season wasn't he? And I don't think Gillingham will have any extra games after the end of the normal schedule somehow! Whether he features or not is another matter.

he said in the press that he would not be playing for southend again so why should he come back he made his point clear

I think King Kev would be a good addition to the squad for the Play-Offs.
One of my mates is a hardcore Gills fan and he told me that Kev has been in reasonably good form for the games he has played recently.
With Grant going back, then Maher on the bench would be a good move by the management.

Honestly, Why would you want Maher back, what does he bring us that we dont allready have ?

Apart from giving the ball away cheaply and blaming someone else for his mistakes.

We have played much better without mayer being there we do not need him back end of

so what happens if either McCormack or Bailey pick up a knock between now and the play-offs?
the only other option would be to move Gower or Black into the middle and play Scannell on the wing, however then we would have players well out of position. Moussa would of course be an option, but with Maher back at the Hall I feel that his experience would be placed above Moussa's arrogant, yet useless talent.
you then replace Maher with the injured party in his natural central midfield position.
he wasn't named the Player Of The Season 2006/07 for no reason...

a bit harsh! the last thing i would call the moose is arrogant

& he has been **** of the year for 2007/2008 for no reason either! The King is dead, long live the King! Lets move on from the Maher issue. Let him have his well deserved Testimonial & move on to the CCC, be it this season or next & then FF.

You say Black can't play in the middle. Some of his better games were when he played in a more central role, albeit in a more attacking role. having watched him lately, Black seems to want to play in the more central role. Give him a try out there against Port Vale & rest Bailey or Macca & play a very hungry Scannell.

rumour was that maher hit a young belguim midfielder, this is not the only time fighting has broken out in trainning, McCormack was rumoured to have been knocked on his **** and you have bailey and McCormark in the middle of a match, Tlly needs to sort this out maher not the only one to blam here.

Surely every player with ability who is successful is arrogant arn't they?

Let's be totally honest though about King Kev, he has been great for this club but he is nothing more than a journeyman in the big sceme of things. If he really had been that much of a quality player over the years he would have been picked up by a bigger club than us and played at a higher level than he has and let's not kid ourselves about that even though we love and admire the guy for all he has contributed to Southend.
