Wignall

Today's Echo says Wignall is suing the club for £25, 000 compensation for being sacked, while the club has launched a counter claim suing him for £50, 000 for his cr*p signings (Emberson, Fullarton and Husbands).

woah! Blimey. Mind you, we paid Ronnie Whelan after he sued for his sacking, didn't we? So, there's a precedent, fo all you legal eagles. (and I don't mean Don Henley)

that's what I thought? Does that mean we can sue d**k Bate for the 'player' that was Richard Young?

Can't remember, mate. I'll find out.

Found this:

WHELAN GIVEN GREEN LIGHT
Friday 16 May 1997
Ronnie Whelan has received a vote of confidence from Southend despite the club's relegation to the second division.

The former Anfield ace's job was thought to be in jeopardy after a troubled season during which he was briefly suspended following the 3-0 defeat at Manchester City in February.

Whelan and his assistant Theo Foley had been ordered from the dugout after clashing with officials and Foley was subsequently sacked.

Although Whelan has another year of his contract to run, it contained a clause that he could be dismissed at a month's notice in the event of relegation.

But Southend chairman Vic Jobson said: "After giving the matter careful consideration, the board have decided he should be given the opportunity to get us back up."

That reminds me- what was Whelan's leaving present?

Releasing Tilly to Canvey.

Oh and this:

When Whelan left Liverpool in 1994 he joined Southend United as a player, becoming their manager the following year. His brief and unhappy spell as Southend manager ended in 1997 with the club being relegated to the Second Division of the Football League and Whelan taking the club to court over unpaid monies (and winning).

fk off!

Just how sh*t did he have to be in order to be "fairly" sacked for poor performance?

I hope the *******'s got deep pockets, because the fact the club is counter suing at that amount means it'll have to go to the high court (MTS2 - correct me if I'm wrong.) As a veteran of being sued in the High Court (truthfully) I can tell him that every ******* has their hand out from the court administrator to the judge. It ain't cheap to defend!

Can't see how Fullerton was a cr*p signing - if you forget about the injuries that the managers got little control over...

Emberson however, with the touch of nepitism....

I ódio do caralho Wignall
That should be:

Eu ódio este caralho Wignall

Not bad. More colloquial would be to call him um filho da puta.

Or how about:

Eu espero que este tirado Wignall vai foder-se no culo.

By the way, I thought that the club told us that they had parted with Wignall on "mutually acceptable terms in accordance with his contract"...? I distinctly remember talk at the time of a release clause being triggered... or am I imagining that...?
