Wiggys ratings today!

Totally agree, I think we played much better against Palace and Leicester, but this time go the rub of the green for a change.

Maher tackled, harried, and worked very hard, but his passing was as poor as I have seen it for a long time, and I thought that McCormack struggled to get invovled.

I agree that the pitch did not help, as a few times it stopped a flowing move, however with the winter that we have had, most pitches are the same at the moment.

We gave the ball away far too many times, lost possession too easily, and it was only the fact that Ipswich were woeful in the first half that we actually got something from the game.

Still, at last we have beaten a team that has been awful. So many times this season it has been, how did we lose to that shower of ****e.

I am suprised you say that about playing better vs Palace and Leicester. I thought defensivly we were a lot sounder than we had been in both those games. Attack wise we created six or seven good chanes which is more than the sum total of the previous two games in my book.:)

Well, it was not a footballing classic. Like some, I too was on the opposite of the away support, that looked and sounded great by the way, the pitch was awful, the ball had variable bounce and was moving laterally as well. The best team did win, but that is daming with a bit of faint praise, as Ipswich were for 80 minutes awful. There was the 10 minutes sparkle from them after the rocket they must have got from Magilton, but I thought we always carried a threat.

Sodje was my man of the match, was superb he won everything in the air and also dealt excellently with their extremely fast players!

I too thought Sodje was the best player on the park, closely followed by Clarkey.

People saying we were poor are being a little unfair. First half we were dominant. We were extremely nervey after the break and this coincided with Ipswich pushing forward. After we weathered the storm we looked fairly comfortable and then knocked the ball around.

To compare this performance to Palace and Leicester isn't easily done. The opposition will play totally different games Home/Away. We were always going to be under pressure for some periods in the game.

Last of all, as I've said in another thread, Peters has got to be one of the quickest players in the league - there is no player in our squad that would have found this pace easy to deal with.

I too thought Sodje was the best player on the park,

Me three :p

I thought Sodje was absolute class on Saturday, always being in just the right place and doing just enough to win the ball or shepherd the attacker away from danger.

Just a quick word on Flahavan who must have either been reading the criticisim on here, or learning from watching championship keepers who manage to dominate their 6 yard box. It was very refreshing to see him come for more crosses and I think this was a key ingredient behind keeping a clean sheet on Saturday, although Ipswich's dire finishing also helped!

I thought we looked a lot more solid as a result. Even though he didn't get a good punch onto every cross, he managed to get enough on the ball to clear the immediate danger. I would much rather he got a weak first onto the ball (like he did for one of their shots which hit the post), than to allow the opposition to have headers from 5 yards out.

If he can continue this positive approach, it can only help us keep the cleansheets we need to get out of the mess we are in.
