Why doesn't Mildenhall ever get near to stopping all these goals...?

You really do talk absolutle load of tripe wiggy. Mildenhall can make saves and he has proved that, I have seen him make some saves that Federici and Flavs would of been proud of. He can be commanding in the air, he is a good keeper and perfect for this level. But I am sorry when he has people like Francis having a nightmare of late it doesn't help him out.

I wonder if Warnock or Coppell would like him in the Championship instead of Fed and Flavs? No, that's why he has always been a lower league journeyman!

Didn't Federici concede 3 ? Oh yes!

Wiggy plays in goal next week. All she has to do is keep her gob open; must be 24'x8', same as a goal.

wiggy you are talking a pile as always. The reason mildenhall has no chance of saving anything is because the strikers are getting so much time on the ball around the goal they can literally pick any position of the goal they want to put it in.
The same happened today to federici in the birmingham reading game. Duberry ran away from phillips and left fed's exposed meaning phillips had all the time in the world to pick his spot. No goalie is going to save the ball when the shots are that accurate.
Mildenhall has actually been very dominant in the air since he has come back and has made some great saves keeping the scores down. The defense and midfield are to blame for not closing down the stirkers and making them rush their shots rather than giving them all the time in the world and letting them pick their spot...

Let's look at the facts here:

1) Federici made some blinding saves during his time here.

2) Federici, despite being a superb keeper, still let in plenty of goals as well.

Now, when you take the above points on board, surely it indicates that the goalkeeping position isn't the problem; it's that defensively we've been utterly dire this season. Whoever has been between the sticks has been largely powerless because players in front of him simply aren't doing their jobs.

Mildenhall is the least of our problems at the moment. He's a far more vocal and commanding keeper than Daryl ever was and I can't think of a goal that he's genuinely been at fault for so far. If it wasn't for him we'd be out of the FA Cup as well.

Sorry folks but i actually agree with wiggy and believe me i was no daryl lover thought the guy was 6 inches too short to be a great keeper he was fine with a towering centre half in front of him but struggled with the centre back pairing we have now. Mildenhall is not a good keeper the sharp inake of breath from the crowd every time he comes for a cross tells its own story he would prob get away with it if we had a better team in front of him but him and joyce are poor keepers. Also what is with the habit with the water bottle every two mins he is grabbing the bottle from his goal and swigging from it reminds me of a certain rob newman when he was having a bad time as manager and knew it was all going pete tong.

Sorry Wiggy, can't agree with you on this one. Form what I have seen, Mildy is a definate upgrade on Flavs in that he is more commanding and actually communicates with the defence. Watching some of the opposition goalkeepers this season shows you how lucky we are to have Mildy (with the exception of the Huddersfield goalkeeper who I though was outstanding). Even with a top quality goalkeeper in goal (Feds) we were still shipping goal after goal. Doesnt this tell you something?

That's probably more to do with the crowd not being used to seeing a keeper coming for a cross...

Colin W*nker may want Flavs at Palace but whatever the reason Flahavan has hardy played for them, and Federeci has only got into the Reading team through injury, but deservedly so if mt Reading supporting colleague is right.

No coincidence that Feds and Flavs made match winning stops yet all this bloke seems to do is dive and jump over everything. Is it bad positioning or a general slowness to anticipate anything, one thing for sure is that with him in goal despite how bad the defence is looking he aint the bloke to keep us in games. Hasn't improved the aerial problems and has made the general goalkeeping position much worse. Blames everybody else for all the goals he is leaking but i am afraid he is no better than League 2, if that!

Oh ****. Things must be getting bad if you are back.

Fortunately you have put your finger on the reason why our midfield is uncompetitive, why we haven't score enough goals lately and why our central defensive partnership is poor: it is all because Mildenhall's arse doesn't meet your peachiness requirements.

More rubbish, wouldn't care if he looked like you if he was a good keeper!

If he is so crap , and is the the worst player in the team at his position, why has he got MOM several times ?

Although I think sometimes you get some unnecessary abuse, I don't understand the fasination in continuing picking holes, and typing 10 neg comments to one positive one (still you are not alone on this point).

Your new to the site, you will get used to reading wiggy spouting **** whenever the keepers have a howler. We have had to put up with it for 5 years, its getting old and give it a rest.

Actually I've been on the site for 15 months ish, but deliberately didn't post previouslt ,(you can time, I was United we stand...... but lost my password, and changed email addresses)

i do know where the Wigster is coming from .....

darryl could and did win us games ..... haven't seen that from Mildenhall ..... AND Darryl was a big match performer

LOL - not bad!

:D

Seriously, though... it's surely not about Mildy? Anyone with only half a brain would recognise that Federici was miles better than Flahavan... yet he couldn't stop Bristol Rovers putting 4 past us, or the Ewes putting 3 past us.

Our defence at the moment is diabolical. Our keeper isn't the problem. Mildy is a solid L1 stopper - nothing more, nothing less. Flavs was probably amongst the pick of the L1 stoppers a couple of years ago (Westwood and Dimi Konstantinopoulos were better, but not many were) - but as Flavs gets older and his reflexes slow down, Flavs will only get poorer and poorer as a keeper - since his reflexes were his #1 weapon.

But Mildy isn't the problem - it's our shocking defence and our lack of bite in midfield that's the problem, and slamming the keeper will do nothing to remedy that.
