We seem to do really well in fish and chips and Indian restaurant competitions, and now this. It's nice to know this is so good, but really......it's a WIMPY!

has anyone recently eaten at Masa dining in Hadleigh or Simply seafood in Leigh?

I am thinking of giving them a punt.

We're not. There are some fantastic restaurants in this area. The Mews, Zabrano, The Dining Room, The Bank, Paris, Boat Yard, Toulouse for example. Plus loads of other less high profile places.

I think there are plenty of decent places to eat.

Erm, it got voted the best Wimpy in the UK. Hardly something to moan/crow about. Doesn't mean we only do fast food well, does it?

Wimpy is great, you get a proper sit-down dinner, meal on a plate. Also my nan took me in there as a nipper and she ordered a cheese roll. She got a bun with a bit of processed cheese.

personally I don't mind Wimpy, and the Benfleet Wimpy winning the award of "Best Wimpy" isn't really something to moan about, IMO

Yes, well, feeling frazzled today, so reaction given. I thought what I initially wrote was clear enough - a justified comment that it always seems to be our fast food outlets that win awards, the Benfleet Wimpy is decent and fully deserving as far as I'm concerned. It's also one of only a few nationwide that's licensed.

I thought what I initially wrote was clear enough - a justified comment that it always seems to be our fast food outlets that win awards, the Benfleet Wimpy is decent and fully deserving as far as I'm concerned. It's also one of only a few nationwide that's licensed.

I personaly can not stand fast food outlets apart from Fish & Chip shops and only use them in desparate times or when trying to soak up the previous nights booze.

Up here it is all about Jimmy Chungs.........its a way of life!!!

I last ate there about a week or so ago - and it's still great. Some folk do complain that it's a bit expensive, but this is probably because they have some pricier dishes on the menu (tandoori lobster anyone?). The 'standard' dishes aren't much more than I pay at most traditional curry houses. Not that all that matters anyway, cos even if it was significantly more expensive it'd still be worth it...

That menu leaves me with mixed emotions. Whilst it's good to see that one can still get a chicken vindaloo for under £6 they seem to have missed off the pictures of amusingly shaped ice cream & fruit combination desserts completely.

Paranoid Android. Trust me, if anyone had posted that, I'd have posted exactly the same comments. Winning the Best Wimpy in the UK, is hardly a badge of achievement.
