Who should be our next manager?

A few have already mentioned that, but it was a long time ago and I am not sure if he was really involved as much as people claim. I have spoken to him a few times and he has always seemed to be a decent intelligent guy. He has had many black players playing for him at Maldon and indeed in our youth set up before that, but nobody has ever claimed he was treating them badly in any way.

You are right it was a long time ago. I'm actually friends with a couple of the maldon lads and one of them is black and they seem to like him. Just wondered whether any of your fans were against the appointment for this reason.

I had a little kick about with Liam Nash on Saturday. Real nice lad and has signed for Boca Gibraltar.....Sounds like he will have fun.

Good news, I think he certainly has potential to do well but as I said it will still be a big step up for him, but I think he will get a decent reception from the fans. The question is will he be allowed to manage his way, having a director of football and an owner who likes to meddle a bit ,he might find it difficult!

Yes Gillingham signed him and he came on as sub? when we played down there.

It is a bigger jump than most fans realise. Unless you have something extra like size or pace its very difficult.....I guess its the same for managers. Wayne Brown has the experience the Cowley's have the personality

Why are people even entertaining the idea of Fagan ??? He was working at Virgin gym in thundersly a few years ago before getting a coaching job at hull city academy back in July 2018 and he only got that job through his friend and was on cheap wages. He got lucky getting that job it was a case of who you know.

so put it this way he’s been coaching kids for two years that’s the only experience he has, and people want him to be a manager of a professional club ??? Lol if you think he would be good then you don’t know football. He needs a few more years coaching and first team coaching at that not just coaching reserves or kids to then be thrown in at the deep end.

Listen if he was to go a few leagues down into non league and make something of himself then yeh. But right now he shouldn’t even be considered if we are to be taken seriously. Having said that we are a joke club atm so might Adele’s appointment him for banter.

Sounds a bit like Tilly who was only coaching kids before getting the job.

I fail to understand the compunction to look to the past instead of the future. Our heroes of yesteryear are, as with Powell, likely to lose some of the lustre from their golden image if they fail to impress as a manager. Give a new guy the chance. Someone hungry, ambitious and above all grateful for the opportunity. Too many of the names bandied about give me the impression they think they would be doing us a favour.

That's basically what Ron said, and someone on here accused him of not being ambitious.

Interesting. Liam Nash was seriously prolific in non-league, watched him at Maldon&Tiptree where he scored a hat-trick and every finish was sublime. Eventually got a pro contract at the Gills but could not quite cut it.

Do you know him well, Rigsby? Is he considering going on a trial again at a pro club? Liam was most recently with Dartford where they really rated him down there.

So whilst Ron trots out the there is no rush mantra to take the pressure off, the reality is that once past the HMRC 22nd July "event" then a decision needs to be made if there is not to be a repeat of the dither and delay that was so harmful previously. Difficult to believe a new appointment will not be made by the end of the month.
