Who is the best player.

Good call on Batigol. Saw him tear the Arsenal back four to shreds at Wembley for Le Viole. Frighteningly good.

Matt

too many to name..

lineker
ronaldinho
eastwood
colleymore
owen against the argies in 98

and the best..

the best being Gazza

Rooney for me. You hardly notice he is on the pitch, then he will do something magical. Such a good player at a young age, if he steers clear of severe injuries (unlike Owen) he can be one of the best.

No arguments with Gazza but claiming he is the best player you have ever seen when he was probably 45 years old and on prozac demolishing a nothing team from East Scumdon on the day dosent really seem a fair reflection on the great man.

An easy one for me, has to be Maradona. Saw him twice in the flesh when in his prime - just before the 86 World Cup at Ossie Ardiles' testimonial and about a year later at the Football League centenary game at Wembley.

I wish I was old enough to see have seen him, not least because my dad rates him as his favourite, and possibly best, player of all time. A high accolade indeed considering he's been fortunate to see live on a number of occassions the likes of Pele, Cruyff, Best, Charlton etc etc (lucky bugger).

Years ago I used to go to White Hart Lane if Southend were oop North so I've seen plenty. Master craftsmen below.

Kenny Dalgleish - if he was English I'm convinced we'd have at least one more WC or a first EC under our belt.

Ossie - an absolute genius

Gazza - I'd say he is the most talented English player in my lifetime. Forget your Gerrards, Beckhams etc. There was nothing he couldn't do with a football. Hoddle leaving him out of France 98 is the biggest travesty since Emma Bunton spurned my advances

Hoddle - Awesome player and one of the best passers of the ball ever. Sadly woefully undercapped by England.

I've just found a very funny Glenn Hoddle site - all I can say is enjoy and WTF !!! Hmmmmmmmmm !

David Ginola - Everytime he got the ball he looked lively. As soon as got the ball people would rise from there seats and watch him go past people. Quailty player

I'm seen a few good players, but none of the greats that have been listed on here. The best I've seen would be:

Robbie Keane (Vs Aston Villa, White Hart Lane last season)

He is absolutely brilliant, work rate is phemonial. A rare bright light in an otherwise disappointing affair. Deserved to be on a winning team and deserved to score. Would have loved to have seen him in an England shirt.

Good call that! This is who mitchel cole should study video's of. Never afraid to take someone on.

Yeah, I've seen Keane live a few times. Each time he's been comfortably the best player on the pitch, but I don't think that comes accross always on TV. Everything he does just oozes class.

I've seen Gazza, Shearer and Beckham and thought that all three lived up to the hype. The best player I've ever seen though is the one whom I genuinely believe to be the best British footballer of my lifetime - Matthew Le Tissier. There'll be another Paul Gascoinge, another Alan Shearer and another David Beckham. There'll never be another Matt Le Tiss.

If anyone needs a reminder of how good he was, just watch this

Beefy,

I bow to your superior knowlegde here. Some classic goals. Top player and a top call....

Pains me to say it, but has to be Maradonna. Saw him when playing for Napoli, and the man is a genius on the pitch.

Second would have to be Gazza - such a pity his demons caught up with him.

Funny enough though, none of these can hold a candle to either Jimmy Greaves or Danny Blanchflower though... (according to my Dad

Dennis Bergkamp

A few years ago Arsenal abliterated Newcastle at Highbury, and although Dennis did not score, he was truely out of this world, the time he seemed to have, was truely amazing.

Marc Overmars also, I love watching REAL wingers do their stuff, and I have seen his run games a few times
