So looking at that site:
Season 15/16 -£48M (when they are in the Prem)
Season 14/15 - £3M
Season 13/14 - £3.3M
Season 12/13 - £400K
Season 11/12 - £300K

Not exactly a fortune when you take out the Prem figure

The 15/16 figure is irrelevant as thats based on the massive prmership money they will get.

However the two previous seasons are more than they should be able to spend as a club of their size. That said, its still far less than other teams spend. Rhodes has been sold twice for far more yet hasnt been promoted.

So they did well to get go up, but wouldnt have been able to do so on a normal budget for a club their size.

As for us, I think we would be lucky to have two or three able to step up.

With the way we are currently performing, I think any of the players, including Bentley, would struggle in the Championship without some championship experience playing alongside them. We have done very well so far this season, but just about everyone has been having their ups and downs consistency wise or with persistent injuries.

After buying their way into the Prem by breaking FPP regulations. Fine has yet to be decided by the Football League.

FFP penalises small clubs like us and Bournemouth in order to protect the rich clubs.

Good luck to the Cherries and by comparison they have spent peanuts until this season. Less than the dosh they received/will continue to receive though.

I think the last two games have shown just how good Lenny is. The fact we have struggled massively without him in the midfield shows how vital he is and why he was, as some say, 'undroppable'. He effectively does two jobs in midfield, mopping up at the back when our CB's get beat and getting our offensive play going too. He could easily play in the championship, as could Coker and Bentley. Not much else at this stage to be honest. Possibly Wordsworth, when fit and playing consistently. Not sure about Macca, haven't seen enough of him. Timlin, Atkinson and Deegan are all work horses and the leagues are full of players like that. If we lost one of them, we could easily sign another one in my opinion.

Yes,I agree with most of this.Leonard is the only one who has played consistently at Championship standard this season.Coker and Worrall might well be able to make the jump but apart from that(haven't seen enough of Wordsworth yet)Bentley,Bolger and Thompson are young enough to improve, but need to.

Worrall hasn't managed the jump up to L1 yet, so needs to do some work to be good enough for the Championship.

If we go up, and it is possible, then in a squad of 22 I would expect to see

Bentley
Smith T
Bolger
Coker
Thompson
Leonard
Timlin
Wordsworth
Payne
Weston
McLaughlin
Barnett
Loza

How many would be first team regulars is another matter. Only 9 to find:whistling:

I think it is sometimes difficult to predict how certain players will cope at a higher level.

A great example for this is Kevin Maher, who I would say looked most comfortable in the Championship rather than league 1 or 2 during his time with.

When you consider Prem' clubs collect £millions for going down to the Champ' and League 1 clubs get about 4p for getting promoted, it increases the gulf.

I think I read a while ago that the difference in the TV money for a championship club and one in L1 is about £2m before this new deal. The TV money is quite difficult to work out as it used to be that if a club is due a parachute payment but gets promoted back to the prem, then that payment is divided equally among the championship clubs. Not sure if it still applies though.

I think Bentley will be, and Coker could be. Possibly Thomson and Bolger could be if they improve a bit with age and experience.

Not sure about Leonard. He has the physical and athletic ability to play in the Prem, in terms of pace, and strength, but he can't pass for toffee. He could probably cope, but wouldn't be a standout player. Allthough he is still young as well so may well improve.

Payne may well be good enough, but again would need to improve his decision making and ball retention.

Other than that? Nobody else.

Ted Smith you'd have to add purely on being so young and learning his trade.

Bristol City, are struggling, and they went up with a bit to spare. To go up we have to have money, i mean big money. I see no way that Southend could ever get beyond league 1 and stay there without at least 10 to 15 mill invested in the club. With Martin at the helm that is never going to happen.

that might not be to do with money though.
we've seen before where the club that wins the league tanks the next season while other promoted teams do alright, it just happens that way some times.

in terms of which players could adapt I certainly think Bentley, Thompson, Bolger, Coker, Leonard, McLaughlin and Payne could do some sort of job but not necessarily hold down a first team place every week.

but at the end of the day you just don't know.
some players just adapt to a new league, and some don't
