Who are the biggest team

DTS

The Business
Been having a debate with my friend Steve about the above topic. He thinks the biggest is Newcastle but personally I think its probably Forest as they have won Europe before.

Define the biggest how you wish but who is the biggest team we have ever faced in the League ?

( Hence Everton and Spurs cannot count as dont think we have been in same league as them).

Ah but which one......I think Forest are bigger than Man City.

I think the size of the fanbase is the best indicator of a club's size. Forest might have won things, but they weren't even a massive club back then, they just had a very good team and a superb manager.

Man City and Newcastle are massive clubs so I'd say it would be one of them. Forest would be in the next group, with West Ham and Sunderland.

Newcastle at the time weren't getting massive attendances, so if fan attendance is the only parameter, they weren't a massive club back then.

City for me if based on attendances.

Man City for me as well..... massive fan base

Forest not even in the Top 22 Clubs for me

One Team In Essex
SOUTHEND UNITED FC

What was the largest crowd?

Newcastle, first game of the 92/3 season or our league trip to Maine Road?

I cannot recall anything, crowd wise, that would get that close in recent years.

However, both could be outdone by our only league visit to Hillsborough back in 1976 where the winners stayed up and the losers went down. Needless to say. We lost.

Fan Base wise I'd go Newcastle.

Liverpool 78/9 would be the biggest club we've played in all competitions although Fiorentina would also be worth a mention.

We have played the majority of the teams currently in the Prem in the league
(Everton, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man Utd, Spurs and Villa being the exceptions)

Just Man U we haven't played then in all competitions of those in the Premier$hite.

If Leeds go up via the play-offs I don't believe we have ever played them?

We have never played Arsenal, Leeds or Man United in any first team fixture. We have played Arsenal in friendlies and I believe Man United in a friendly years ago.
