Which single position needs strengthening the most?

There seems to be a lot of disagreement about this judging by recent posts on here so I thought that it would be time for a poll.

Presuming that Leon Clarke leaves when his loan is up, that Richie Foran leaves in the window and discounting the probable signing of Scannel, which single position to do you believe needs to be strengthened the most?

I suspect that most people will say centre-forward but I'm certain that with an Efe Sodje or a Spencer Prior style centre-half we'd be a far stronger side and I'd take that over any striker that we could bring in.

Yes we do need a tall pacy centre back, but I do have to go with the centre forward option. You can't win games if you don't score and without Leon I don't see a consistent goalscorer in the team- which is essential if we are to aim for promotion this season.

You can't win games if you're conceeding the number of goals that we do, either. If we stop conceeding then we only need to score once per game which our forward players are more than capable of. Remember the Coventry home game last season? Freddy has a blinder, works his **** off all match and gets two goals only for us to conceed three bad goals. If he phoned it in in the second half of the season then he couldn't really be blamed after nights like that.

I feel we have enough quality at the back though, and Tilly just needs to make a decision in playing Richard's with either Sir Adam or Clarkey so we have a tall CB. Up front I don't think we have the quality of players (with the exception of leon) and it should be a primary target in bringing in a new striker (while offloading some strikers at the same time).

However, I can see both departments being strengthend in January anyway which will hopefully see us make a real push towards the top two.

Wiggy, why are you calling for the Goalies to be strenghtened? I think Daryl makes a very good backup keeper to Collis, and most would agree, so with two good keepers, where's the problem?

Centre-back needs improving, but if Leon goes then it has to be a new striker as we haven't got any other forwards who even look like scoring a goal at the moment!

Striker without a doubt, when Leon isnt in the team we dont look threatening enough despite the stirling effort from the midfield. I cant see any of our other strikers scoring 10 so without someone new up front I dont see promotion as viable.

Our defence is ok at the moment but if we could add a Sodje like player there then great.

I'd like to see a decent pacey winger, an outlet who we can knock it out to when up against it. Quick counter attacking football, a JCR with a decent delivery. If we create enough chances then we'll score goals.

Amazed you can think that. To my mind we almost look as vulnerable at the back this year as we did last year in the Championship. We are in dire need of an experienced and commanding centre back that either Barrett or Clarke can play alongside.

Its ok, no more and no less.

Id take a Sodje any day of the week but if its a straight choice between a striker who looks a threat or an extra couple of inches at the back (oo er missus) Id take the former.

IF Leon goes we desperately need a striker to replace him. None of Harrold, Hooper, MacDonald or Morgan can get the goals that Clarke does.

I think in Jan we will see Clarke (Hopefully), Morgan, Damien (Non-League Winger) plus 1 join us. Hopefully that plus one will be a centre half.

Even if we keep Leon, and I still hope that all the good noises coming out of the club about him mean that we will, I'd still say a striker is the main area where we need a new player.

We need to do something about our defence but that might actually be a matter of playing the right players and coaching them right (IMO: Hammell, Clarke, Richards, and Francis with Sir Adam and Lewis Hunt in reserve).

A new addition to the coaching staff as well then?
I did think & hope Deano would help shore up the defence but it doesn't seem to have happened.
