Question Which players would you let go at the end of this season?

Who would you let go? - Please vote for the players you would release ONLY.

So from this, most fans would have our XI next season as:

Collin

GSM, Taylor, ???, Ralph, ???

Parillon, Morton, KAF

Kendall, ???

Subs: Hayes, Wind, Coker, Miley, ???, ???, ???

Struggling to see COSU coughing up for three new starters and three more squad players before accounting for injuries, suspensions, etc. but maybe with loanees that’s not too far off the mark.

We have what 5 players out of contract plus 2 loanees returning to parent club? Will need at least 7 incoming (less any players offered new contracts) to stand still in terms of numbers.

I've tried to keep in the bounds of reality, bearing in mind noises coming out of the club at various times on budgets, unearthed debt, Maher liking a squad size of 22 to 23 if possible etc.

So I've only released from my imaginary list:

Gubbins
Bridge
Wood
Waldron
Hopper - Hoping a budget could be found to mutually terminate.

My view would then be to sign:

LWB
CB x 2
Dominating Midfielder - to give LCP a foil to work with.
2 strikers

That would give me a squad of 22 to start the season with.

If all the signings improve the squad, which should be the aim at any club at any level, some of the retained players would have to stand up, or be benched if not performing - and that would be across the board, no room for favourites.

We'll see how the summer pans out though.

Sorry, but after everything that that group of players went through, the least they deserved was a new deal, and some security.

Whilst I do agree that some will be moved on in the summer, I have no issue whatsoever with those guys being offered new deals.

I do find it funny on SZ how one bad result, possibly two if you include the draw at Sutton, and the knives are well and truly out again for everyone and everyone needs to be replaced. Couple of wins, and we just need to tweak the squad.

Football fans, in general, are very reactionary. Win, and we are the bollocks, lose and everyone is useless. Doesn’t surprise me to see one or two reappear after a defeat, but didn’t see them during our unbeaten run, or even after individual results like the Oldham one for example.
I was referring more to some of the acquisitions this season to be honest. Especially with what we have spent on agents fees. Fully appreciative of the disrupted summer we had again, but some of the players we have brought in and deals we have handed out this season have been incredibly poor.

I'm not one of those to go on a tirade after a defeat either. But I do stand by the above. We need to do better this summer and I am sure we will.

I have listed nine players but as with many of us on here am frustrated that the majority of these are still under contract. The two whose performances irritate me most are Husin with his lack of goals and assists and no runs into dangerous areas, he really is the worst culprit for letting the opposition back into their defensive shape while he goes sideways and backwards. The other is goalkeeper Hayes who I have never been impressed with including at Solihull and Barnet. A really poor signing IMO.

This is definitely a heart or head thread, but there can be no room for sentiment!
I don’t think a massive overhaul is needed, some more quality in the attacking third, which is being looked at, and a commanding centre back, ie Golding if we can get him, and another forward thinking midfielder to back up Leon and we will almost be there.
I’ve kept Bridge and Coker, but I wouldn’t be upset if they were moved on.

If Maher can manage to play Kaf in the correct position,I think he is good value, his wages won’t be lumpy .Parillion could be excellent if he stays injury free , oh and is played in the correct position.
Bonne and Kendal. And even hopper I would keep. I’d just want to see them get some quick ball. Not this seasons dirge

I’d reluctantly let Husin and Bridge go, as they haven’t really hit the heights of last season and I feel we could recruit better than them. Hopper, Crowther, Gubbins, Walker I’d be saying ‘thanks but bye’ to, given the choice. I’d actually keep Bonne and Kendall as back up but sign 2 attackers. We desperately need leaders, players who know the tricks .. we’re still a bit of a soft touch. Could be worth a few extra points.

More or less who id keep, but when you look at that midfield its not strong enough by a long stretch!
