The Express - Frederick Forsyth's column always get's my hackles up before setting foot in the office first thing. Also has some damn good non pc articles in it to.

When the Times went tabloid size is when I started to read it more frequently, otherwise it was left to be a Saturday only paper, as I am no good at origami so this paper was a no no on the c2c commute to london.

Well I had a slight mental block when I was submitting my poll - im sure any I have missed can be posted - the London lite is quality, wins everytime over the London Paper. The text bit is the best obviously - but unlike the Sudokus in the sun, they are very hard and after starting the day feeling quite genius like from the suns sudoku, I end the day on a dumb note when I see I have only got 3 numbers in the grid......

I never thought I'd hear those words uttered.

I get the Echo if there's a Southend match report or an Owl Man feature, Daily Mirror on Saturday for the weekly television guide, and a quality Sunday or 2 when there's been a good win for England at the rugby.

None what you would go regularly though. The standard of journalism on the Mirror is appalling, the Echo is about as interesting as Dagenham kev's memoirs of Tilbury v Eton Manor derby matches, and the quality Sundays are rabidly biased towards extreme right wing, they hate Cameron more than Brown, so their news reporting is worthless.

I'm no big RU fan, but Stephen Jones in the Sunday Times is different gear, always well worth a read when he's on the international beat (couldn't give a monkeys if he's writing about Wasps vs Sale or suchlike though!).

Daily Telegraph for me. I don't agree with the politics, but it's so wonderfully well written that it's a joy to be to exposed to.

Plus, they use lots of long words and my vocabulary is, like, not...erm....big.

Oh, and Boris Johnson makes me laugh an awful lot.

The Sun... Broadsheets think that Football begins and ends with The Premiership, occasionally flirt with The Championship and only ever venture into the deep and dark territory of League's 1 and 2 if the words "Leeds" or "Nottingham" are involved.

The Observer for it's Sports Monthly supplement, quite possibly the best supplement journalism has to offer.

And tabloids don't?

The Times does the best lower division coverage IMHO. Its not great, but you occasionally get a proper match report rather than a rehashed press conference masquerading as a match report that you get in the Sun.

But if we have lost then atleast there is page 3 to fall back on....so to speak.

Another vote for London Lite for me - has just about the right mix and has saved me 50p a day on the Standard which used to wind me up with its politics. Used to buy the Mail, Times, Sun or Torygraph on the train on the way in depending on what mood I was in though I'll be honest I've never got the hang of the broadsheet turn the page thingy so the Telegraph never got beyond the front page and the crossword on the train and read at the desk. No reason why this couldn't go the way of the Times.

These days if I haven't got my head in a book I prefer trawling the net on the phone to and from work seeing as most of the sites I want to read are banned at work. It's great, I can keep one eye on Battrick at my desk and no-one's any the wiser. :D
