The problem with goalkeepers is that each team really only needs one strong keeper and one back up, unlike every other position. This leads to there being a lot less demand for keepers on the market, and so they get sold at a much lower price than other positions do. Jack Butland only went for £3.3m and at the time he was being hyped to be England's future star, that's died down a bit but he still has every chance of doing it one day. Bentley isn't getting anywhere near that level of hype, I think anything over £1m would be unlikely. Bentley has never been tested against bigger stars outside of a couple of FA cup games so whoever takes him would be making a big gamble. I think 250-500k with a lot of add ons would be the best we can hope for.

I think Ron would gladly accept a bid of £750k with a hefty sell on clause and add ons, either at the end of the season or in this transfer window, as long as he's loaned back.

If we do sell Bentley, we will then need to spend some of that cash on a new keeper, as I can't watch Paul Smith with my heart problems. And Ted Smith isn't ready yet.

I would be stunned if we got half a million for him. Paul Smith is capable and would have a good defence in front of him.

Not goal keepers though.

Strikers always go for more. Luke James is a striker who only went for 750k.

I think that is somewhat irrelevant. How much would Neuer, De Gea and Lloris command? I imagine near £30m for the latter two and probably double that for Neuer.

Obviously I'm not drawing comparisons, but I believe Dan is one of the biggest prospects in the country. He is of the 'new mould' if you like, and his talent has been widely recognised. He hasn't just been linked with 2 or 3 clubs, and I expect other sides to become interested if Brentford or Bristol City and the alike table bids.

Yes but they are the worlds best goalkeepers.now look at the worlds best strikers. Luis suarez, messi,Ronaldo look at how much they would be worth.even bony went for 30

If Grimes is worth £1.75m, then Bentley is worth far more than £500k. That was my point in the previous post.
People are underestimating Dan's potential: we have a 21 year old goalkeeper who has literally been immune to error for two seasons with a steely confidence that cannot be mistaken for arrogance. Hence the interest from top, top sides.
