What's with the beer and the scoreboard?

Cinemas are charged an absolute fortune from the studios and distributors in the States and as Pubey says, they have to pay that whether people go and watch the film or not. On the odd film (Dark Knight, etc) they will end up taking more through the box office than they have to shell out but that's very much the exception.

20 years ago when cinemas had maybe two screens they were in a strong position as they could effectively pick and choose which film they wanted and could cherry pick those offering decent deals. Nowadays they all have 10 screens and there's an expectation that every cinema will screen every blockbuster, which has massively reduced their strength.

£2.80 For a bottle of luke warm peroni, taking the p**s really, wont bother again as two gulps and it was gone. I just dont understand why they dont make it cheaper and that way more people would drink there, surely.

£2.80 for a bottle of Peroni is, unfortunately, about right... I agree with you regarding it being warm though, if you're not going to have draught, the least I'd expect is it to be cold.

I'd prefer them to keep the prices higher and the riff-raff out.

The club should never allow things to be that bad!!!!

The only thing I will say to kind of counter this is that if you go to Lakeside and have a problem with food you bought there would you complain to the centre or the place you bought it?

Unfortunately in selling off the concessions SUFC are merely now just a centre holder for other businesses operating there and as such probably do have the power to come down hard on people if they are making them look shoddy but at the same time complaining to the club is going to result in not much action.

I've never for the life of me understood why there are scoreboards at football grounds.I'm at the game for christssake I think I might know what the score is.
With one vey notable exception of course The Man U game when several thousand flashlights recorded for posterity that night of nights.

re various

the drinks industry make a greater profit margin from soft drinks than alcholic ones - therefore the hiked price.

the west stand bar looks over the pitch & therefore cannot sell during 'match time' thus allowing people to drink & watch the match at the same time (that is unless the laws have changed).

surely just seeing things like the man u 0 southend 1 scoreboard light up (with its few remaining bulbs) makes it valid :)

I think it would be good to have the scoreboard permanently showing the "Southend Utd 1 ManUtd 0" scoreline for ever --- just to cheer us up when things are bad.
