Not going to be happy if this is another youngster hounded out. When are we going to learn to support our players rather than getting on their backs?
I dont understand Walker, most players will die for the pace he has
think that gave everyone high expectations tooGower seemed to think Walker could be the new Freddy
Not sure what to make of Walker - which is how Tilly probably views him. At the start of the season, we all say 'we want a 20 goal a season man'. Problem is, to do that, he has to play 46 games, plus a few cups. Walkers inconsistency means the manager loses faith, the player loses confidence and we are where we are and thats football! Consistency gains the Managers faith = player confidence = 'automatic' selection! Down to you Mr. Walker.
This pace that is always spoken about with Walker - he never uses it! He's not lightning quick anyway, it seems to be a bit of a myth.
My problem with Walker, and the reason why I couldn't care less if he moves on because I don't think he's going to be a star elsewhere, is that he's got no footballing brain, thus is useless far too often.
Where as Hooper had a bit of nous about him, could play clever passes, could get in behind defences, could get into good positions in the box, Walker can't do any of this. Walker is always head down, run forward. He never looks to see where his team mates are, he never plays the simple ball, he never releases the ball when he should... .
... he doesn't get in goalscoring positions, half the time he couldn't trap a bag of cement, the list goes on. He's been poor this season and he wasn't great last, so if someone comes in and takes him and therefore allows us to get another striker in I'm all for it.
No, it's down to Walker, Tilson and the coaching team to sort this out, not Walker alone. How many times have we seen over the last few seasons that Tilson seems to decide a player is no longer good enough and rather than try and coach them to be better, freezes them out instead.
The Walker situation on Saturday reminds of a game towards the end of the championship season. A home win would have kept us up for another week, yet despite Lawson being fit, and our only other striker available, Tilson stuck 4 defencive players and Collis on the bench.
It seems Walker will be joining Scannell and Foran at the door marked exit, following the likes of Hooper, Liptak, Kightly, Cole and Lawson at of Roots Hall, when a better coaching and selection policy may have helped them become valuable players.
