What time should I leave?

I am planning to try and get up to Doncaster by car on Friday and am hoping to get to the Keepmoat by about 1930 BST. What time do you think I should leave?

Leaving from Hockley.

Remember:

- Rush Hour
- Traffic
- Petrol Stops + Toilet Breaks

I need quite a few responses to this so I can get an accurate reflection on the time I should leave.

Thanks,

Elliot

I'd take it fairly easy if I were you and try and be away around 2, that should allow plenty of time for a couple of quick stops if needed, and getting caught up in rush hour traffic.

the M1 at Luton is screwed - on a Friday afternoon it will be worse -

its nearly two hundred miles -

2 pm from south Essex -

I'd say 2pm, 2:30 at the absolute latest. On a clear run at 80mph it's a three hour drive without stopping but with Friday traffic could be a lot, lot longer.

I'm currently booked on the coaches but am tempted to cancel and drive as I'm a bit nervous they're cutting it a bit fine on timings, especially as they're limited to 70mph and don't have the ability to put their foot down and make up time (not that I advocate speeding in any way, shape or form :) )

Allow for the Sheffield crawl aswell. It's chaos on a Friday on that M1. If I was you I'd use the A1 but even that's not great. Also be aware that getting into Doncaster near the stadium takes ages aswell due to the government taking a long time approving the new link road at the Lakeside junction (where the stadium is).

surely go up the A1 as this brings you out at Donny and avoids the mayhem of the M1 and the roadworks that bring it to a standstill around Watford/Luton

I would recommend leaving at about 2 and going up the m11/a1. if that is looking bad you can always head down the a14 to the m1.

It's pretty interesting really as the coach doesn't get to Basildon till 2:40?!

massive understatement - I wouldn't consider leaving it that late if I was driving in a car. Are the OB concerned about hordes of supporters arriving too early.

I would be VERY nervous if I was on a coach

Speaking to a couple of Donny supporters on friday night who travelled down by car they said the journey had taken almost 4 hours - which was allowing for congestion, toilet stops etc.

I am also driving up there and planning to leave by 1.30-2pm at the very latest

Forget going by car, get on a train, find the buffet, indulge yourself in a few drinks of whatever takes your fancy, when you get to doncaster have one or two more small libations in a local hostelry.......GET TO THE GROUND AND SING YOUR HEARTS OUT FOR THE LADS.
Other than that leave early.
