My personal opinion is that we should be discouraging car travel to the seafront.

Tourists may benefit seafront traders but they don't really spread that money around the town yet the pollution and congestion caused by day trippers affects us all.

Maybe residents should get cheap parking and everyone else encouraged to use the two rail services into town?

My in-laws used to have a house down in Keyhaven. They used to get a residents parking permit that cost a fixed amount and allowed the unlimited use of parking spaces in Lymington and the surrounding areas. These were only available to residents. Anyone else had to pay at the time of parking, which was much more expensive. That worked very well.

Seafront parking prices. We turned into Chalkwell Esplanade this morning to park up for short walk on the front. Last time we did that it was £1 for an hour. This time it was £2.50 for the same period. Duly got back in the car and drove further down the seafront.
No ticket? Might get a PCN then.

My daughter's once best friend has taken to bullying her and being an absolute cow. They used to be inseperable now she sometimes comes home from school crying. Fortunately the school is splitting them up next year and the following year they'll be off to different senior schools and hopefully never to cross paths again.

Kids can be horrible. We’ve had a pretty similar situation with my eldest son. He’s best mate has made some allegations against him which got him suspended. Which was completely underserved and utter bull****. Now he is getting my son in trouble at every opportunity. Secondary school is tough. Some of the stories my kids tell me.

One girl has been going round telling other girls to kill themselves. Been bullying and threatening towards some of my daughters friends. She was suspended for a fight but is now back and continuing to cause havoc. I didn’t have the easiest of times at secondary school and feared for my kids going. It’s been tough! Doesn’t help I live in Braintree where they’re not always from the nicest of backgrounds, but I suppose you get that everywhere.

Hopefully she will find a new best friend soon.

Next door neighbour has just got a hot tub!

Why anyone would want to sit in a giant bath in the garden with their mates on a cloudy day is a mystery to me.
It's the mates bit I find a bit weird. If he had a giant screen outside for the Euros or it was someone more worthwhile than his mates in there, well then I could understand. :Winking:

Cheers. She had a sleepover last weekend with a few who are in her new class and they had a cracking time so I think she'll be just fine. Secondary though......

My sister had a similar thing with her youngest daughter. Her daughter had a really close friend all the way through primary school. They ended up in the same class at secondary school, but this "friend" decided my neice wasn't cool enough for her and dropped her with a lot of nastiness along the way. The problem for my sister is that she is best friends with the girl's mum.

As it is I think my niece got the last laugh, having got 9 9s for her GCSEs, and is doing her A Levels with a view to going to medical school.

Agreed.

On residents cheap parking point, people can get a Southend parking pass now for £8.50 a month giving 3 hours parking per day, per 'zone'. I gave it a go and will keep it going forward, gives me a lot more options that usually I wouldn't bother with due to paying each time to park. Some months it probably won't even be value for me.

Behavioural economics is great.

It's coming home - If I hear it sung by any more stage managed BBC school visits, grannies in canteens, Army bands or any other of the obscure links the media is churning out I'll explode. The kick off cannot come quick enough. Oh, and don't start me off on Sweet Caroline, everyone knows that was only ever sung well in the Southend dressing room at Wembley after the play-off massacre and will never be bettered.

Completely agree. I really hope we win so people can stop singing that for ever.

Just for you mate.

Three Lions is a national embarrassment of a football song from a time when every celebrity was claiming to be a football fan to boost their lad/ladette credentials.
