I just put the kybosh on a project that will probably save the EU/NR hundreds of thousands. Will I get thanks? No I'll probably get it in the neck.

My lack of excitement that a new Star Wars film is coming out on Friday and for the first time I won't be rushing to the cinema to watch it. It's had bad reviews, the plot is (apparantly) obvious. Meh.

Im avoiding all reviews and watching it for myself before I pass judgement.

Really? I kind of liked it. A bit bloated in places but it was good fun.

The entire section with Rose/Finn & Benicio Del Toro (I forget his name) was utterly pointless and added 45 or so minutes to the film. The Leia in space scene was ludicrious. There were chances that it could do something new or go a different way, but it followed the same old path of extreme good v extreme evil.

But they're kids films I suppose, they don't do shades of grey for 48yr old men.

Im not dissing your opinion, but in film 8 why would it do something new? And I liked the Leia in space scene.

I realise it's ultimately a kids film and Disney won't have you trampling over Rey's "goodness" or Ren's "evilness" as they can't sell moral ambiquity to kids. It's just Luke v Vader all over again and it's for this generation.

Lucas has never shied away from the fact that SW was intended to be a fairy tale. Empire was quite morally ambiguous, but the rest has been very black and white.
