When it was announced that 3 signings were to be made today, which is all very positive, I fully expected Fagan to be one of them. The fact that he has been here all of pre-season and by all accounts impressed in the games he has played in, I'm at a loss as to why there has been no Contract offer or a 'thanks for your time but your not for us' statement made. Surely PB must have made his mind up on him ?

After all this time would wages be an issue ? If it were you would have thought tentative discussions were held weeks ago as to whether we could match his expectations...........it does seem a strange one...

I honestly think Brown is looking at signing his 'Must haves' then if there is enough money in the kitty we will get fagon as maybe a bit of a 'luxury??'

As time goes on doesn't it increase the strength of our position? Maybe he's asked for £2k a week and Brown has said 'train with us but look for offers cos we can't pay you that'. If fagan isn't with a club by next week then maybe his demand will drop to what we can offer.

Brown is probably deliberating is he really worth signing. We have 4 wide players already- Hurst, Worrall, Atkinson and Weston, and plentiful strikers, so not sure where he would fit in the system, whether thats 4-42 or 4-3-3.

I think that may be it as signings go now, would be surprised if anyone else comes in before Saturday, money must be tight now:'(

Difficult to say. I can't imagine Ibenfeldt will be on a huge amount, Layne far less so and I'd imagine Spurs are probably paying a portion if not all of Coulthirst's wages anyway. Who knows if there's room for one or two more, I guess we'll find out soon.

If we couldnt afford him he would have surely left long ago.

Strange it is dragging on, maybe Phill doesnt see him as a priorirty.

I think there is a bit of brinksmanship on both sides. Fagan hasn't got any other offers, but is asking for the earth, and PB knows this. I reckon he'll be a last minute on Friday signing for either us or another club willing to pay too much...

In the end if the key question is would he improve over what we have then frankly for me its a clear yes- he has played at a higher level, it shows plus he has got himself (thanks in part to us) very fit. Watching skin the QPR international left back not once but a least a couple of times also indicates he has got a bit more pace about him.

The only logical thing to me therefore is that either or one of the both must apply
1. he is wanting too much or a two year contract where we want a one
2. he thinks he will get at least L1 football and so does not want to drop to L2 unless he has to

Something has to give

TBH if we got Fagan and Bolger on board and said that's it I would have very high hopes for the season.

I remember someone saying that football contracts are for 12 months + and that Fagan's deal on his old one hasn't ended yet? Or something to that effect?

They normally end I think 30th June
In all honesty he probably based on this years pre season is capable of L1 and an associated wage
If PB had no interest in signing it would be bizarre to keep him on so long, have him as the only 'trailee' on blues day etc.
So the only rationale conclusion is that PB would like to sign him and Fagan is holding out for a better offer.

otherwize PB would be mad as you become a hostage to fortune- I.e. you have no intention if signing him , play him against Ipswich and QPR and it becomes obvious that he is an upgrade I what we have and questions get asked left right and centre - shy in earth would you do that?
