Just that whats happened to fortress Roots Hall, im sorry but it will never become a fortress when you have conference quality centre backs, Am i being a bit harsh, well going on your threads which is all i can do , Prosser has in the past 3 matches been responsible for 3 goals , on this ratio per match come seasons end he will have been responsible for 23 goals at least. As much as i like PB and belive he is thhe man to take SUFC forward , i ststed pre season we needed decent centre backs, they are the rock you build your team around, they give everyone confidence form the Goal keeper right throughout the team.Prosser im sorry would not instill confidence in me, and Philips as good as he maybe is injury prone.

I have to agree that we badly need an experienced and quality centre-half for this level to come in and help shore up that back line. It won't happen though and we all know why. Not El Tango's fault.....

Frustrating as there is the makings there of a very good L2 side in my opinion, however there's no way any side will ever get out of L2 at the right end with such appalling defending as we displayed today (and last week too to be fair!).

To be fair, fortress Roots Hall includes the crowd who once again were shocking at Roots Hall yesterday.

Any other ground you attend would have seen the home fans (in large numbers) get behind their side for that final push in the last twenty minutes - especially once their player was sent off. Not the moaners at Roots Hall.....our atmosphere produced at Roots Hall is shambolic, must be one of the worst in the entire football league. Sometimes the players need to raise the fans, but on occasions us fans need to raise the players!!!

Like any other fortress if you sell off your biggest defencesive blocks and let the opposition nick some others you have a weak wall which will get knocked down, you then have no fortress.

Just a suggestion, but maybe we should have kept Mohsni and done a brain transplant with Barker?

Know it was only a rumour (unfortunately), but Martin Taylor would have been a very good answer to a very big question. We desperately need an experienced, brick wall of a centre back to fortify the back four.

The west stand has done nothing for the "fortress", once again like it was a few years ago, only the w block sang, if you want atmosphere stand up and sing!!!! Just don't drag us north bankers in if your not going to do anything, it was a good atmosphere for 1 game!!!! Roots hall will never be a fortress if people in the west dont stand up and sing so other stands can catch on
I've always been one to look at fans and see how loud they are and stuff along them lines, and I have always been trying to add songs and improve the atmosphere, like having before match songs, yesterday was embarrassing!!! Out sung by 60 or something i believe it was, embarrassing lads.
if we were in the north we would of silenced them.

Roots hall will never be a fortress if the west dont help. It's just embarrassing and is very frustrating.

So is there a reason for not being in the north bank that I have missed or is it by club ban or something.

Without being shot down....this whole Myth of the North Bank being loud is just that that, my personal opinion!!! It may be slightly louder, but only slightly.

I sat in the East Black seats yesterday, never again - I was amazed me how little some 'fans' actually know about football. During the first twenty minutest to half hour, our players seemed to have good possession and were keeping the ball well yet some fans moaned at our sideways and possession football. These are probably the same fans who moaned about the hoofball we played last season and also the same fans who never get behind the side.

I dont think we are the worst at all, not anywhere near it. Wycombes fans were silent for most of the game, and that was when they were 2-1 up. I went to the Spurs v Swansea game this season. Very quiet from both sets of Supporters. I think most of the ground was in shock yesterday at being 3-1 down, add to the fact we were playing badly. I take your point that we should have got behind them, but I doubt many clubs fans would have roared their support given those circumstances

hopefully saturday was a once off, i think you could of replaced 9 off our outfield players at some stage during the second half, we were that poor:'(

Roots Hall has not really had much atmosphere since the days when the North Bank was the home end. Large numbers go in the West to watch, have a good moan..but not get too vocal in support....it has always been the same.
In the old days, a large section of the North Bank was for those who wished to sing and the resulting atmosphere was much. much more daunting for the away side.
Still, we have what we have. So just keep supporting!

Brilliant post:thumbsup:

Never say die, it's a marathon not a sprint..however, as others have stated, we, collectively, are very, very quick to jump on the team (rather than support them), when they are not playing to our expectations.

A similar theme is noticed on this board, with the "who do were dislike/want to stab in the back this month"

I bet Paul Smith is very happy to be sat on the bench and not a victim of some posters vitriole....

Unless he plays on Friday night and we lose again and then all the Smith haters will be back with sharpened knives. So we started off in first gear and everyone was happy and then we have stalled .....well it's not the first time a team has done this and it won't be the last, lets see what happens on Friday as I would like to see a good reaction from the team.......I just want to put it down to a bad day at the office, although I was a little suprised that a so called Southend fan decised that the second goal was all Bentleys fault, not sure on that one to be honest but it's all about opinions
