Blimey! I remember all of those and I don't consider myself old, being in my thirties...

Having said that I did get my first random advertising letter from Age UK just last week so maybe I'm wrong

Remember them all to. Don't consider myself old either, but this week for the first time ever I got offered a seat by a young lad on a packed Central Line train...DEVASTATED!

The pleasing thing is that hopefully we should have an advantage over certain other teams in the division from the off as we have a largely settled side from last season. Turner and Ferdinand have played together before while Turner has also played under Brown so he should fit in nicely. Kightly can play anywhere in midfield (much like Gower could) or in a no 10 role if needed. We still need another CM (even if Lenny stays) and probably a CB (although a loan signing as cover would do). We have good cover for the likes of McLaughlin and Kightly in wide areas (McGlashan, Robinson, Hendrie/Coker etc) and once Ranger gets out and is match fit (which could take a while) we'll be in good shape. Maybe a loan striker until then might be useful but we're not far away from having the strength in depth we'll need to mount a serious promotion challenge. The two goalkeepers still worry me, I would have liked us to have gone for Walton on loan again but if PB believes wages are best spent elsewhere that's good enough for me.

That certainly is an area where we have struggled in the last couple of seasons ........... but equally that 1 extra point for the play-offs could have come anywhere in the season. I am hoping that we have put the "bad runs" behind us ....... clearly I love the "good runs" but it's what the manager does and how the team responds when things are not going for us that is just as important.

Kiernan, Forrester or Reeves would be fantastic, but cannot see how RM can afford another marquee signing?

Positions that concern me are; GK (both injured end of last season, and will Oxley's elbow be completely healed?) CB we need pace, and cover for CM

and also up front, as still not convinced about Robinson, and MAF is going to be 36 this year - and then there's Ranger? Who knows. I expect goals will come from Wordsworth and Kightly, but still like to see another option to partner Cox

Sounds like a geological formation to do with rivers...... Oxley's Elbow:- a dislocated segment from the main arm of a river due to the wearing down of supportive banks...or Oxbow for short.

With Ranger banged up, I would say yes. MAF and Cox with Robinson is decent but it still feels lightweight if one goes down injured. I wouldn't want to rely on just Robinson who for me is a squad player.

Only short-term though. It will take Ranger a while to get match fit as well.

I'm going to presume we will bring Amos back in once he's done pre-season with Spurs. Management and players all seemed to like him and it did seem like he enjoyed his time here, albeit not playing much! If that's not the plan, I'm sure PB has a wish-list in this area especially with the risk of Lenny being signed!

PB will need another CB but I reckon this may also come in on loan too. I feel we need another striker but it depends what system Brown is planning on using! Robinson seems to have matured in recent years but don't think we really saw the best of him last season, probably due to lack of game time.

Important for the youngsters to impress as there are big chances for them to be involved this season!

I think another CB is a must, and a striker, maybe on a loan until Jan when Ranger should be back and fit. If we can another midfielder then great, but it's the least important of the three.

For me, we need 3 more right down the spine of the team, a CB with pace as think we are going to have times when either Turner/Ferdinand are out injured or both. Another CM who is a playmaker to challenge Wordsworth, as there were times last season where he was going through the motions and competition will be good for him. Lastly, I believe we will need a striker as well. Realistically, we won't see a fully fit Ranger till at least November and he does tend to get lots of little injuries which puts him out for a couple of weeks at a time. MAF/Robinson - will they score regularly? I'm not sure so think we could do with another target Man to support Cox and bring Kightly into the game. Maybe a loan player till Jan, who can prove their worth until Ranger is fully fit?

ONIONS!!!!

This is page 3 and no call for ONIONS!!!!! have you all forgotten the woe?

And how about the tea trolley/South Stand catering?

The state of the loos to be sorted?

Ron to donate a hair piece for the bloke on the mic?

There must be more that we NEED?

If we sign a striker it will be a Zak Ansah on similar who is cheap and can also play wide- otherwise a waste of money.
We need a CM and CB- simples
I think Kightly us here as a RM- although he could pay no.10 (did at Burton?) and maybe that means a Forrester is possible- but I can't believe we wouldn't play both and if Kightly is at 10 what does that mean for Wordy and the formation- can't see it.
So expect an attacking MF to cover Wordy and a CB and that's it for any signings of note that cost ££

Not so sure. tried to get as much out of this guy who is on holiday here, works for Southend, was right about MK,but would not tell me much more. Then just as he was leaving with a few beers inside him, said a CB name starts with K

We wont be paying 200k

Sure PB said in the echo last week, that in addition to Turner and Kightly signing we are in advanced talks with three other players. One was defo a CB, one defo a CM, not sure the other. But was basically intimating that we could expect 3 or 4 signings close together

I think we need to put a post up now moaning about the lack of signings at the end of this coming season. No point in delaying the inevitable:smile:
