I'll echo Hazey's comments about fans as well (apart from Grimsby's)
yep! that was great

I miss Steve Wignall, Alvin Martin, Bobby Moore and all those other fantastic managers we have had at times in the basement.

Quote[/b] (Shrimpersarmy @ Sep. 01 2006,16:01)]being one of a hardcore 200-300 who went to those far away northern away games.
200-300 at Northern away games

when I were a lad we used to dream about taking 300 to Northern away games!

A nice quiet Spread before and after matches.
Having 5 seats to yourself at the ground.

Damn these new fans!

A quiet beer before kick off in the East stand bar, read the whole programme without any hassle then get to your seat in about 13 seconds.

That said, i miss all the above no matter what league were in as i'm about 12,000 miles away

Doubt we're going to be away long enough to start missing anything...

That said, the fans are clearly more tw&ttish in League One. Oh, and I miss Rochdale. They're great.

I know it has kind of been mentioned, but STANDING!!

Its OK for you short arses, but the leg room at the Hall is appalling, especially Row C in the West!!

I miss the fun and spontaneity of it all. I wouldn't quite go as far as to say the result was secondary but enjoying the day, however it went on the pitch, was the main aim. Because nobody took Southend United seriously we as supporters never took ourselves seriously either. It was the very essence of being a football club, all in it together from players and staff to fans.

Days out now, though, seem to be all about the result and as a consequence the final score, rather than the football or the day out, appears to be the only priority of a fair proportion of our support now.

I loved the trips to Rochdale, Darlington, Kidderminster, Cambridge, Torquay, et al, with their own little quirks that made them stand out, be it the cottage pies, christmas party laid on for us, or whatever. It's things like that which made the game of football a real sport and already I miss it an awful lot.

Quote[/b] (Hong Kong Blue @ Sep. 01 2006,17:22)]The food at Kidderminster
Being able to stand at away games
Stadiums with characters
Not having to queue/buy tickets in advance
The food at Kidderminster
The food elsewhere
Standing at away games
Referees giving occasional decisions in your favour away from home
The food at Kidderminster
Tickets for under £20 and being able to stand
All the above, and always being able to get a decent seat in the South Upper a couple of hours before kick-off.

Then again, I miss losing 2-0 at home to Boston like I miss a hole in the head...

I don't miss any of it, empty stadiums, poor players who did not care, no away fans.

I now like a stadium that always feels it's full, players that really seem bothered and even stupid things like listening to Sunderland fans in the clubshop saying they wish they had decent Nike kit like us.

I like having a decent away following.

I like having a centre forward who says no thanks to Forest and Derby (unlike Chris Powell,Stan, etc)

Best of all is kicking the backsides of the big time Charlie clubs.

Perhaps some of you can support Grays for a one-of match at Kidderminster to get your fix.

You think its bad now ??

What about 10 years time when Uncle Ron has realised his and our dream and we are an established Premiership club, and we all get the accusations of bandwagon jumping when Fossetts is packed out with 25-30,000 every week

I work with a Chelsea fan, and though he loves the money and the trophies he's sick of the back biting from people saying he's only there cos of Roman ... he's 60 and been going for 50 years
