Question What are you reading?

Not read it (or seen it) but Jenkins said on Wittertainment that it's non-narrative time structure made it difficult to film. Not to mention it's a film about poor black folk......

Interestingly, the ending of the novel (no spoilers) is much more depessing than that of the film.

Started Kevin O'Rourke's excellent A Short History of Brexit:From Brenty to Backstop last night. It's one of the best two books on Brexit that I've read recently. The other Brexit:Heroic Failure ,perhaps not too suprisingly was also written by an Irishman. After all, the Irish would seem to have a lot more to lose from a no deal Brexit than even the Brits.

Nearly finished Sally Rooney's Conversation with Friends. More (welcome) straight sex than in Normal People.Similar (unwelcome) amount of self-harm though. Well-written account of relationship problems for twenty- somethings. Was it ever easy?

Currently reading Jon Davis and John Rentoul's Heroes or Villains? : the Blair government reconsidered.

Still villains in my book,I'm afraid.

Didn't even know there was a movie...Roundly slated on most review sites!
It's not gonna win any awards but I liked it, but the subject matter being about the music industry in the 90s probably had a lot to do with that. I reckon you'd find it an enjoyable watch

Now I've ploughed through Kill Your Friends (I need a shower) I shall be starting The Outcasts of Time by Ian Mortimer. £1 on Amazon.

Just finished Ali Smith's wonderful novel Spring.Uplifting.Good to see that someone's addressing the issue of IRC's (Immigration Removal Centres) and refugees (if only in fiction).
