Be interested to hear what you guys think of this. Lead singer is from Rayleigh and is the son of one of my oldest friends (for Shrimpero, that's Deb Park, who you may remember), an ex WHSB student too....

I do indeed, Kay. I'm afraid this music doesn't do it for me though. I'm down with the wizened old grouches of Westcliff instead - like the mighty Phil Burdett > http://youtu.be/-LPLTbFOpa4

A track from the Mind Games album, which I picked up at their gig here last night.

John Renbourn Group 'A Maid in Bedlam'. THE most underrated English folk album of all time, fusing folk with early music and Indian classical music in a way that still sounds current. So obscure there's not a single track from it on YouTube!

Sounds interesting! Have to see if I can track down a copy. It's on Spotify

Also thanks to the wonders of amazon i've taken delivery of Suede Singles, and a whole host of Best ofs .. The Animals, The Hollies, Catatonia, Texas, Boomtown Rats and The Undertones

One from the man himself.RIP.
Seen both these fine artists play here but not together, unfortunately.

Simon & Garfunkel. Cool or not, I love 'em, especially Bridge Over Troubled Waters, America, Cecilia and The Boxer.

Definitely cool or at least "mellow" to quote Paul Simon (Annie Hall) .He even bought me an interval drink once(and everyone else in the audience)at a solo gig in Manchester back in the 70's.Also saw the S and G reunion gig at Wembley.Literate pop at its best.
Remember,as a school kid, deciphering S and G lyrics(with another zoner),wondering who Leonard Bruce was and how you could "smoke a pint of tea a day." Happy days.Another schoolfriend had his own version of The Boxer's lyrics."All thighs and breast.Still a man feels what he wants to feel and disregards the rest."

Mo Mowlam bought me a pint once at a Blockheads gig. I think that outdoes your Paul Simon bought everyone a drink.

:winking:

Echo that Coxy .. The Concert in Central Park remains one of my very favourite musical DVDs

During the show some nutter appears to go for Paul Simon whilst he was singing Johnny Ace his tribute to the legend that is John Lennon who was murdered in the city 7 months previously

:off topic:(Btw,Did I ever mention that ex-MP,Bruce George(retired at the last G/E),used to play in goal(or referee)for the football team I captained at Brum Poly)?Bruce Grocott( later PPS to Blair)was also a Lecturer there.:raspberry:

Does anyone remember Mega City 4?

Deep down I'm still an Awkward Kid.

MC4 were top lads, singer Wiz died about 3 years ago and a myspace site was set up in his honour and was inundated with fans and lesser known bands saying how he'd gone out of his way to help them out. They did a Rape Crisis benefit at the old cinema in Braintree and Senseless Things, who had top 10 hits at that point begged to support them just because they loved MC4. Of that scene Snuff are still gigging and are still a top night out. I saw your name Greebo and wondered if you were a Gaye Bykers fan - they were my favs of that ilk.
