Just bought tickets for Peter Green and Friends mid-October show here.Notice that he's cancelled a couple of UK gigs recently and just hope he's well enough to play in the Autumn.
As this(and other recent you tube vdeos show)he's clearly damaged goods and his voice is much weaker than it used to be.However he's smiling a lot and his guitar sounds more jazz influenced than ever.Sitting down too.:)

As I'm going to see them in a couple of weeks :smiles:

Blues alert

Currently listening to Robert Cray's Cookin' in Mobile.Good but there have been quite a few RC live cd's recently of which my favourie is probably Across the pond though Live at the BBC runs it close.Bonus with CIM is a live DVD of the set which I haven't had a chance to view yet.
Would recommend Pinetop Perkins and Willie Big Eyes' Smith's Joined at the Hip for some excellent Chicago blues also featuring John Primer on lead guitar.
Finally I've been enjoying Charlie Mussewhite's The Well, a welcome return to the Blues by CM after some experiments with Latino type sounds.Great lyrics on this one.

This post by our BarnaBlues correspondent has reminded me of some tremendous fun you can have with some some fishy songs. I'm currently listening to 'We've Gotta Get Out Of This Plaice' by The Animals. I understand that 'pickledseal' loves a band called Eels. Me, I love all fishy music especially sole. :D

Literate pop alert

Currently listening to John Hiatt's The best of..and before that The Open Road.Love his version of Angel Eyes which I was only familiar with through the Jeff healey version.Had no idea that JH actually wrote it.Ditto with Feels like rain which I only knew through Buddy Guy's version. Also enjoying his Perfectly good guitar.
He's here here with his band in late October and I'll be going as I'm still annoyed about missing his last visit here in the early 90's with Little Village ,which by all accounts I've heard, was a memorable concert.
