Being a shrewd ( tight! ) guy, i've got Waitrose in Leigh well sussed out. Go there on a Sun before 3.30pm, & everything with a 'use by today' date, reduced by about 50p.
Last half hr, it goes nuts!. So many items reduced massive. Yesterday brought 3 different Salmon products for £5.80 instead of £18!!.
And believe me, they are still fine to eat the next day, or just freeze them.
