Usually have some diced lettuce in them, but none in the fridge!. They weren't Leigh Old Town prawns, but ready peeled from Morrison's, reduced from £2.69p to 70p!.

I make my own with tomato sauce , salad cream , worcester sauce and lemon juice to my own taste .

The Leigh old town prawns are bought in as is a lot of the produce they sell.

The only local things were Brown Shrimps and Cockles , strange how people used to think that Prawns were caught out in the Ray even though it had Greenland on the boxs .

Campbell's fish soup.
I had high hopes for this, and it smelt good, but taste was poor and it was very watery.
Very different from French fish soup, soupe de poissene? , which is, imo, a feast in a tin.

Would have thought Eels and winkles were Estuary born and bred, if not then caught there?

I was told a few years ago, from someone who used to work down there, that the winkles came from Scotland, & the jellied eels from Ireland?.
Whether that's changed since then, i dont know!.

The best jellied eels are Irish Tomb Eels , you used to be careful where you picked winkles from .

I remember an old winkle picker slipped and bang his head and died , the following day when he was found the crabs had already eaten his eyes .
