I thought it was a scam right from the moment they found her, i mean, who celebrates finding their child with champagne, when actually they should be thinking about what they could've prevented and why there bad parents. Also, about the McCanns, is it me or are they holding on to false hope? If you ask me she's , let's face it, not near the parents. And they want money from the magazines for the stories printed about them, go back to work and earn it is what i say. It might be harsh but at the end of the day they don't deserve a penny.

A court has been hearing more evidence in the case of Shannon Matthews. It is claimed in court that she was drugged and imprisoned in a flat after her mother hatched a plan to make money from her faked kidnap.

A jury was told Shannon was kept locked in a flat for 24 days by Michael Donovan, who police believe used an elasticated strap with a noose on the end to restrain her when he went out.

Prosecutors at Leeds crown court said Donovan drugged the nine-year-old with temazepam and travel sickness tablets while imposing "ruled control" with a list of dos and don'ts.

The rules, written down in a document, were found on top of a television, and stated:



You must not go near the windows
You must not make any noise and bang your feet
You must not do anything without me being there
Keep the TV volume low - up to volume eight.
And that case continues.

disgusting how the warning signs were ignored by people who are paid to safeguard kids from abuse.

baby p suffered shocking injuries which the authorities at the top ignored.

the prog explained in graphic detail how this baby suffered at the hands of a monster,the fecking mother is as bad .

this mad country will no doubt give the so called mother every help available whilst the poor excuse fore a geezer will be protected.

these 2 should be used in animal experiments ie they are experimented on.

I was also shocked at how the mother constantly lied about the presence of the boyfriend in the house, how no one (neighbours, Friends, Family, the boys natural father etc) reported the boyfriends attendance to anyone. How the mother lied about visiting a sick relative in order to delay the regular visits from SW in order to give visible injuries time to heal.

The workloads of the Social Workers were above government recomendations too, but as there is a national shortage of Social Workers ,across all disciplines , let alone the unpopular , in SW terms, Child protection sector, its not surprising they are overloaded
Given what they have to go through, the workload and then the public pillorying (?)that occasionally occurs , I am also not surprised at the shortage, although local authority budgeting would also contribute.

Since the Laming report the emphasis on CP has in expanded to be more proactive as well as being more accountable. That means generally as CP training gets out to more people working with professionals there are more referrals which all take time to investigate. Plus the record keeping has become more time consuming, which according to Panorama (and Mrs FS was nodding a lot) is not helped by the country wide computer system being considered not up to the job (or C**p , as the wife said).

However quite a balanced program which ended with the comment that it should not end up as a witch hunt, all though one of the Managers in Harringey got quite a bit of bad press.

Interestingly the person the press have been hounding , Sharon Shoesmith, did not even warrant a mention.

To me, the lesson everyone should learn from this is , we all can help. if you have a concern about a childs protection, let someone know, it may not get acted on immediately but each referral is logged and several referrals certainly do get alarm bells ringing. it is often tough, as it may be a family member, friend or neighbour but better to be a "grass" than a mourner.

As absolutely tragic as baby P's case was, nothing is ever reported on where social workers have acted and removed children from danger - according to Radio 5 yesterday a man was jailed last week for similar abuse and the judge praised social services for acting so quickly. Strangely I don't remember reading or hearing about this in The Sun or on The BBC.

I can see this going full circle and next year Social Workers will be pilloried from removing children from loving homes where there is virtually no evidence of abuse as per the laughable Satanic abuse allegations in the early 90's (I think).

I find it so incomprehensible that as soon as any media source dare speak out against them, their army of PR & lawyers are on the case.

As I've said time & time again, at the very least they should have been found guilty of child neglect and the rightful action from Social Services put in place. Just because they were upper middle-class doctors ensured they got a differing perspective on their circumstances.

As far as the Shannon Matthews case goes, I think it's safe to assume from that Cutting Edge documentary that was on, they saw it as an opportunity to make some cash out of the media/public in a McCann style!
