Why is it that West Ham are receiving £60m of government money in order to convert the Olympic Stadium for their use?

This is bad news for us. If, in August 2016, kids are given the choice of either watching League 2/1 football at our place, or hopping on the Southend Vic line to Stratford to watch (possibly) Premiership football, most likely for less money, which are they going to do?

We could of course be in the Championship by then, but that's pretty optimistic!

What are people's thoughts on this?

Horrendously depressing news to wake up to. Always wondered why they have to infiltrate south east Essex with their promotional filth. Surely there's plenty of kids in east London that don't go to football?

For me its impossible to call as I hate Spurs, West Ham and Orient with a passion. Would be happy to see it bulldozed rather than given to one of that lot.

Not a problem for us IMO. Maybe for the first season as everyone will want to go there, even I might go just to see what the stadiums like, but after that, why would anyone want to go? The novelty will wear off quick

Could be very bad news for us.If West Ham have any sense they will have very cheap tickets and fill the place. Hertha Berlin play at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin they flit between the 1st and 2nd Divisions of the Bundesliga just like West ham do here but get 60000 a week as they only charge 15 euros to get in for most seats in the ground.

Fortunately for us the Premiership isn't as concerned with fans as the Bundesliga, I have no doubt they will continue to charge Premier League prices.

The only good thing about this is that at least they wont be moving to somewhere like Basildon which would have killed us. That was always a possibility.

If Wet Spam want it converted then they should have to pay for all of it themsleves.

The thought that my taxes will be helping make the Olympic Stadium into a Spammers ground makes me feel violated.

What annoys me the most is not just the fact it's coming out of tax payers money, but the fact West Ham get £60 mil paid for from the council but Southend council don't give us a penny for Fossets Farm and want us to contribute money for supposedly taking business away from the twon centre. So much for supporting the local club!

How cheap will tickets be they already do half price games kids a quid etc .think they will start giving out free tickets to fill it when they played spurs they were still advertising tickets pay on the day and thats for there cup final

we're in a recession and we give that club £60.000,000. My taxes are funding that pile of s hit. I feel sick. If they want to play in a stadium totally unfit for football then so be it. To give them one single penny is wrong.
