Weather Tonight

Quote[/b] (D62SUBOY @ Dec. 20 2006,06:35)]Indeed, not looking good at all. Chances are it will be postponed as the BBC interactive forecast for this evening predicts dense and widespread fog covering the whole of London and the South East with visibility down to 15 meters in parts

when have the weather men ever been right? and women.

Weather update from the BBC lunchtime news. London and outlying areas will probably stay clear this evening but as temperatures plummet in the early hours the fog is likely to descend with a vengeance making driving hazardous in the morning.

Source BBC news

Fog forces BA to ground flights
British Airways
British Airways said cancellations could last for 48 hours
British Airways has cancelled domestic flights to and from Heathrow for the rest of the day because of severe fog.

Flights between the airport and mainland Europe are also being severely disrupted by the weather.

Some flights at Gatwick airport, Cardiff International and Liverpool John Lennon are also affected.

I'm only quoting what the weather person said on the BBC lunchtime weather report. "London and outlying areas will probably stay clear this evening but as temperatures plummet in the early hours the fog is likely to descend with a vengeance making driving hazardous in the morning"...ok, that's not verbatim but it's more or less exact.

I wouldn't call Heathrow either in London or in an outlying area.
Lets just hope that with WHL being in a built up area that the fog isn't so dense as in places like Heathrow or Gatwick.

Spoke to Spurs football club they said everything looks fine and the game should not be called of! but who knows when it gets dark and the fog sets in!
She did say though tonight if you are worried ring the number on the ticket and they will update you!

No they haven't
Yes they have
he's right you know!

why are you flying to white hart lane then?
Clear as the proverbial bell in Romford at the mo

Anyone who is cycling to the game tonight should make sure they are wearing something reflective just in case.

Get yourself seen at night.

Cannot believe we are bickering about FOG.

How many more posts can there be.

I suggest a more traditional open debate

Bart vs Flavs anyone

funny you should say that.. i was going to email RM and GK with a cunning plan. How about some SUFC reflective strips for kids, give them away or 50for 3 or something for them to wear when leaving games now its dark? could be a good bit of publicity and there must be a few incidents around the hall cos often its a nightmare when driving home and everyone is in colours or dark coats

like these kind of things

if i was a dad i would definitely make my little kids wear them when its dark

BART BART
BART BART

Only benefit of the fog is the oppo won't see Flav's Short-Comings and try and lob him at every oppurtunity!

Ahh, but here's the current weather at London City Airport:-

EGLC 201420Z 25006KT 6000 NSC 04/01 Q1040

Let me decipher:

EGLC: The ICAO code for London City Aiport.
201420Z: On the 20th at 14:20 GMT
25006KT: Wind from 250 degrees (i.e a westerly) at 6 knots
6000: Vis of 6000m
NSC:  No Significant Cloud
04/01: Temperature of 4C and a dew point of 1C. (The bigger the gap the less chance of fog forming, but the temperature is likely to fall at sun set.)
Q1040: The barometer pressure at the Airport.

However, here's the forecast

EGLC 201210Z 201322 VRB04KT 2000 BR BKN002 TEMPO 1317 7000 SCT022 PROB30 TEMPO 1622 0400 FG BKN000

Basically this is saying that between 13:00 and 22:00 this vis will be 2000m with lots of cloud at 200ft. There is also a 30 percent chance that somewhere between 16:00 and 22:00 (and lasting an hour) the vis will be 400m with lots of cloud at 0ft.

If the ref goes by that, and is risk averse then I doubt he'll go ahead.

No they haven't. They've cancelled domestic flights - probably because some of them are stuck in Scotland or Manchester because of fog there. International flights are still taking off.

Just been chatting with a Spurs friend who lives near their ground. Mentioned the possibility of fog affecting the game and she didn't know what I was on about. Clear as a bell down there apparently (for the moment at least)
