We need to move on - quickly

So when the team needed our support the most, our support went missing. Typical.

Our fans don't deserve a team in the top half of the table. In terms of support we are a mid-table 4th division team.

The worrying thing is that this has started to creep in this season. Ever since I've been travelling to away games regularly the support has been, on the whole, excellent whether we're winning or losing, but this season has seen some of the quietest away followings I've seen - despite the efforts of a hardy few to try and get some noise flowing.

Very much after the lord mayors show entertaining the bigger, more well known clubs (shall we say) from last year maybe?

Back down to reality with a bit of a bump....

I agree that there's too much expectation about.
We're only a mid-sized league one club, but a lot of our fans seem to think that we belong in the championship...

I agree with that overall . But I don't see why , with the right management ( from the top that is ) we can't be on a par with say Plymouth or Hull City . Presume RM thinks this too

If that's the way people think, they should go & take a long hard look at themselves. What did they expect from Tilly & Southend United? Champions League football by 2011? Muppets!

Plymouth and Hull are bigger clubs, but its possible with good management to punch above our weight for a while.

You're probably right there.

We need to reverse this trend before our away-end atmospheres go the same way as the atmos at the Hall.... :p

Dunno.....just asked the question.

Maybe peoples expectations are higher this season than before because of where we were and the teams we were playing.

Might be part of the reason to jump on the teams back if expectations are higher this season especially after last season when realistically we didnt expect to do that well (and we didnt) so expectations would have been much lower.

Our "fans" are what drove me away from Roots Hall in the last 90s, i just couldn't bear to sit with them, seems the old trend is creeping back in again

The ones who also fancied a pop at their own fans too you mean?

Yeah I had to sit next to a couple of them on the coach for the Swansea game, idiots i tell ya. Got back on the coach after the game and it was just moan, moan, moan, moan they haven't got a clue!

Maybe then instead of being so forthright in their views if they're newer supporters who've joined the fold since Tilly's appointment they should maybe take more of a backseat and realise how much of a struggle it can be in supporting a team like Southend and not shout their mouths off about things that they haven't really got a clue about?

If as a football fan you want your successes to outweigh your defeats & low-days then I say, f**k off & go & support Arsenal, Chelsea or Man Utd!
