We have a Champion

Now if that's correct, it would've made a big difference. A couple of tenths over a lap, 71 laps = 14.2 seconds over the race. This would have put him within a few seconds of them at the end. Add in the change to a 3 stop to try and help him catch the cars in front - this would not have been necessary as he would have been closer to them already, taking another handful of seconds off of his time.

Not saying it would definitely made a difference, but I'm equally not sure it can be dismissed out of hand.

Not quite. the effect only lasts for about 3 laps as the fuel naturally warms up to track temperature, so i think really they only gained about 1 second each. I say only, that can be a big amount in F1...

If they dock the 'drivers' points then it will again raise the issue of why Hamilton and Alonso were allowed to keep thiers when their team was found guilty of cheating..

Not really. The fuel issue relates to events happening at an actual race. The McLaren spying row was related to how the team may have used any secrets gained on their cars and was not directly related to a race situation.

Besides, no hard evidence was found in the spying case.

Which may be the case, but breaking a rule is breaking a rule, regardless of what advantage was gained.

Maybe Lewis knows he blew it on the first couple of corners when he tried to overtake Alonso and therefore doesnt want to make a claim on something he doesnt really feel entitled to.

Think thats called professional sportsmanship......

I hear that Luc DiMontezemelo (Ferrari president) is attacking Lewis in the Italian press for being immature and 'poor sportsmanship', yet is championing Alonso as a shining beacon of virtue...

Perhaps he has designs on signing the lad after Massa's contract expires...

This is just getting plain stupid now:

I hope McLaren don't win this appeal as it was all over weeks ago, but for Ferrari to say that stuff is stupid after the way they've also behaved this year. There was a great article about this whole sordid mess in the free Sports mag that circulates around London.

Ferrari have been far from blameless this year too...
Just hope next year sees some more good racing, and less of the internal politics and rule tightening
