Was today the lowest point watching Southend?

The lowest point was a few years ago when we lost at home to Lincoln on a cold Tuesday night and we looked destined for the conference.

Seconded. Yesterday was bloody awful, but at least we are (currently) in the Championship. For me, many dismal home defeats in the bottom division rank above (or should that be below?!) this one.

Nice Aviatar James .Was obviously a pic of You when you were much younger:D

Throwing away a lead against Carlisle and feeling that you might have watched the pivotal moment in our slip in to non-league was pretty grim. I believe that was just before Tilson was appointed.

What a horrid day that was. Carlisle had lost about 13 in a row before that game too.

Exactly. This is hugely disappointing, but there have been far worse times - losing 4-0 at Grimsby (also relegated) in our last game in the Championship last time, knowing that we had a poor chairman, a walking (drunken) disaster for a manager and players who REALLY had no passion or desire (because this squad does, and has proved it time and again) would be a good example.

Very ready to be shot down here, but what have been the numerous occasions this season when this squad has proved its passion and desire? I can't think of many...

In terms of passion, commitment and workrate this squad is miles and miles ahead of the one that took us down in 96/97. The fact that we're even in this league when clearly most of the players are way out of their depth as this level is testament to that.

I'm sorry but I think this thread proves that passion in football is becoming less and less... that was an Essex Derby for f*cks sake, like someone else said... its a low point and no-one can deny that.

I'm glad some people can find heart in us losing to our local Essex rivals in such a pitiful manor... :(

I could give a list, and there have been more games than not where our passion and desire have been evident (even when we lost - losing is not evidence of lack of passion or desire) but I'm with Beefy on this one:

Undoubtedly and has been said elsewhere the club as a whole is in a far better state than back then. I feel the next 12 months will serve to prove just how good a manager Tilson is. All his hard work over the last couple of years has unravelled somewhat - really hope we can get that back.

I was playing devil's advocate a bit. What's disappointed me this year is the team's inability to win the big games (QPR aside) and save better performances for the 'nothing to lose' games: Man Utd, Spurs, Birmingham, etc.
