been called off a few times already, should have just had at at Roots Hall tonite instead

It's been called off twice, I believe, and one of those occasions Roots Hall would not have been playable anyway.

Pitch inspection 1pm today.

The Essex FA needs to get off their behinds and get this game played asap, its been dragging on too long.

Play it at a neutral venue if necessary.

yh the semi final waltham abbey / southend v hornchurch is due to be played by the end of next , there is no venue named yet by the essex fa for the final

The "due to be played by" dates are just targets and really don't matter in the latter stages. The final is normally mid/late April which allows at least 8 weeks for the quarter and semi-finals to be played. Hardly a crisis !

Can a mod please correct the thread title then? I've been up to Waltham Abbey every night for the last three weeks in the hope of catching this game.

Who mentioned crisis?. If nothing else this game will give fringe players a chance of a competitive game and some time on the pitch which could be useful with the 1st team playing twice a week throughout February.

You said the game had to "be played ASAP" and even suggested a neutral ground !

A neutral venue for a county cup quarter final ? That'd pull in the crowds.

The purpose of the competition is for the Senior teams in Essex to compete against each other and see who comes out on top. It is not so fringe players of League teams (who can't be bothered/can't afford to run reserve sides) can get pitch time. There is no reason (yet!) to deprive Waltham Abbey of their home fixture --- unless, of course, they'd prefer to play at Roots Hall.

I doubt they'd want that. One team in the competition, in the recent past, who switched their home game to Roots Hall, at the club's invitation, were sent a bill for usage of the ground that night.

See you at Waltham Abbey------------------------ whenever it gets played!.

Doesn't look like they fancy their chances of playng on Wednesday as they've re-arranged an away match at Heybridge for Tuesday !

That defiantly sounds like they think our game wont be on! If the ref deemed the pitch playable on Wednesday that would be a bit much their players!

yeah saw that - originally they had to cancel that Heybridge game so they could play our game so not sure why its back on! See the game got cancelled on Saturday as well.

The original one was at home; now they're playing the reverse fixture at Heybridge instead.
