Twice and won both times :

1981-82 .. 1-0 - First game of the season

Remember one fella (wish I could remember his name) who spent the entire match asleep on the terraces.

Moody with a header was the only goal of the game.

1982-83 .. 3-1

A fine performance, just after we had won 1-0 away at Sheffield United and 2-0 at Bournemouth in the FA Cup
Never been to the Bescot Stadium, but I was also at the above two matches at Fellows Park winning both times. Having gained promotion at the first attempt in 1980-81, we travelled to Walsall in the opening match of 1981-82 winning 1-0 with a goal from Alan Moody in front of 3,419, however we were soon brought back down to earth the following week losing 4-0 at home to Newport County with one of the goals being scored by John Aldridge. The following season 1982-83 we were winners again 3-1 with goals from Dave Cusack,Steve Phillips & Danny Greaves with Alan Buckley scoring for the Saddlers in front of only 2,453 fans.

Went to the most recent 2-2. Remember there keeper having a mare passing the ball out to Barnard to slot home.

Brother Grimm, let me on the coach, the first time for years...went on my own..was as good as gold..the younger lads went one way,i went on my own..
Got a prog and sat in a pub.on my jack, and having a non-memorable time...dont remember the score,or even what year!!

Went to the 0-2 win and then the following year expecting the same again. Sadly got tonked 5-2 ! Good luck to all going tomorrow. See you at Wigan next week.

Back in 1975, me & the 'wife to be' (an ardent Blue's fan back then), went there either end Aug or beginning Sept. It was the seasons 2nd away game, and we went to the first at Chester.
Anyway, we won 3-2, and if my memory is correct, Peter Sylvester scored a hat-trick. Brother Grimms had just the 1 coach going from Roots Hall, and as per usual it broke down on the M6 about 10 miles from Birmingham. Fortunately, the problem was fixed, and we got there about 2.30pm.

Not going tomorrow but can recommend the Walsall clubhouse.pay £2 and get afriendly welcome and a seriously nice home made balti pie and chips

I was at the first one you mentioned. Wasn't it Ginger Lee's mate asleep? Remember marching into their end and being marched straight back out by the police. Tipped down with rain as well as I recall. One lad got slung out and spent tbe rest of the afternoon being chased by some of the locals and the coach driver wouldn't let him on to hide.

That was it.

I vaguely remember the fella was quite a big guy and had a chequered shirt on, I'm sure.

Remember the downpour.

The away end kind of went around to the side a bit and we all moved around there to shelter from the rain.

Remember the 4-0 home defeat against Newport.

Think it was a Friday night game and was a real wake up call that we were back in a higher division!
