Walker bashing

I seem to recall from the last time we had a penalty something about penalty takers being chosen before the game.

Was our last penalty Peter Clarke's miss at Telford away? That was not decided before hand, he took it because of the disallowed goal only a few minutes before the penalty.

I wouldn't have thought they would have discussed who of the subs would take a penalty.

Wasn't that bad of a penalty, couldnt work out why he was taking it when we have one of the most experienced strikers in the division on the pitch.

People who were booing him are just idiots and aren't worth bothering with.

But the keeper saved it in his chest he only moved about 3 yards to his left. It was a poor penalty. Didn't slate him though, just couldn't understand why Freedman was not allowed to take it.

Actually probably was no where near 3 yards, will wait to see the replay on TV it might make it look a better penalty & a good save!

makes me laugh tilly says on the blues website huddersfield got what they come for. Yes Tilly they came for 3 points and got em all, wake up[ and realise we have a severe defensive problem, and perhaps even a coaching one if you allow walker to take penalties with the likes of freedman about.

The keeper guessed the right way, penalties are a gamble, been mentioned on here already that if the keeper had gone the other way we'd all be singing Walker's praises.

Yep maybe so but if he was going to place the ball rather than blast it, make sure you get it nearer the post than the middle of the goal. As per my other comment I hope the TV replay makes it look a better pen than it was & a good or lucky save by the keeper.

Okay, thanks. Just trying to understand why Freedman argued so strongly against Stanislas before letting Walker take it. As I say, it'll be interesting to hear from Steve Tilson if he explains the decision.

As for subs, I wouldn't expect them to discuss that either but there might well be a pecking order for penalty takers in the squad. ie: Player A, then Player B, then Player C, etc. There must have been some reason as Freedman argued against Stanislas, and then Walker ended up with it.

i'll be honest, as soon as i saw walker step up i knew he was going to miss it. i say that because i watched every players warm up shots before the game and walkers are always side footed and placed in the centre of goal. in other words crap. he proved me right by doing the exact thing i knew he would.

personally thought the whole game was a joke.

Shocking penalty, summed up our atrocious performance. Only one way we are heading and that is down. Whole defence and midfield needs replacing.

The penalty was crap, there's no two ways about it.

However, you can't use Walker as a scapegoat, there's many other candidates far more worthy of that.

Betsy and Francis certainly won't be tired tonight. Quite how either of these players have not been dropped this season beggars belief. Of course, as is Shrimperzone etiquette, we can't possibly criticise them as you'll get the dreaded neg rep. I'll just sit there quietly and smile as I'm paying good money to watch a couple of lethargic losers.

Milsom clearly is a long, long way out of his depth and Tilson still has many questions to answer as to why we have been left so short of personnel and talent in midfield. An annoymous midfield is one reason as to why we are so bad at the back, they don't win anything. McCormack isn't the same player without a combative or holding partner.

I'm not a huge Moussa fan, but what on earth is he still doing out on loan when we are crying out for a central midfielder.

Just like last week, we were beaten from the moment we went a goal behind.

Some Southend fans are an utter disgrace, you could tell they almost enjoyed Walker missing today. They just love a scapegoat.

People like that are just as scummy as any West Ham fan.

Idiots.

Clueless.

Nobody enjoyed him missing, but he was always going to. Why? Becuase he is a really really poor player. I think what annoys people the most, is the fact he one of the laziesy players we have ever had. Effort goes a long way in winning over the fans (just look at Revell).

The penalty was terrible, so poorly hit, I am almost as annoyed at the rest of the team for letting him take it

You don't have to blast the ball to take a good penalty, Wayne Gray was the prime example of this - his penalties always seemed to barely trickle in but he seemed to be able to wait for the keeper to commit to going one way. Walker's penalty was so poorly struck that the Terriers' keeper could have dived the wrong way and still had time to get up and collect it from the other side of the net.

My old mate, Julian Dicks told me that , when he was taking pens for West Ham, he blasted the ball every time. His pens were timed at 95mph and he scored a lot more than he missed as he said the ball was usually in the net before the keeper moved.

Today's effort was very weak, even I could have saved it.

only 90mph faster than walkers!!!

i could not agree with you more our defence is a SHANBLES

said it a million times before tilly can get a million wingers in or as many strikers as he wants. the problem is always the same defence are terrible. hardings great, francis is a liability at the moment imo, as much as i like clarke and barrett they are too similar and its clear we need a big commanding centre back to take charge.

its like freedman today, as soon as he came on he was telling everyone what to do and thats exactly what we need. someone with a bit of bottle to open their mouths.

Freedman should have taken it, I don't know why he didn't.

It seemed almost inevitable Walker was going to miss and it was a shocking pen.

the keeper was pointing which way he was going as a double bluff and walker fell for it. i said it would be saved as he seemed to have no confidence in taking the penalty. main question would be why did freedman give him the ball in the first place, as he picked ball up originally.

Freedman didn't give him the ball the way I saw it Walker took the ball from Freedman. I think what surprised me more than anything is that Dougie let him prise the ball from his grasp.

Couldn't believe it when I saw Walker getting ready to run up, why didn't Freemdan tell him to do one? :stunned:
