W.Indies v England Fifty50

Awful.

The captain set the tone by scoring 2 from 18 balls, to make full use of a shortened powerplay. Everyone then had to play catch-up.

The pitch is basically flat, offering no sideways movement and the only thing its got is bounce. England's reaction was to retain the dibbly-dobbly bowling of Mascarenhas and drop Harmison, the bowler most likely to get something out of the pitch.

68-8. We've lost two wickets since I started typing this.

Haha just when you think it couldnt get any worse than the tests. We really are absolute rubbish arent we. Anyone think the Ashes wont be another whitewash?

at least he got some runs! more than can be said for Flintoff!

And Pietersen being "homesick" boo ****ing hoo, you're a ****ing professional sportsman ****ing deal with it. absolute disgraceful performance, and he needs to grow a pair of balls instead of crying about it.

So nobody was happy that England smashed the West Indies to bits the other day? The lack of posts suggest so.

I think the public are losing faith, interest and support for the 'poor boys' forced to play cricket in the hell hole that is the caribbaen for a couple of months. Even if we win on Friday I can't see many dancing in the streets of the shires and declaring us certs for the next world cup.

My first England test series I remember was the 89's ashes thrashing. Whilst initially we were still damn good at one dayers, for next ten years I grew to accept that we were rubbish at all forms of the game. Those swines Fletcher and Hussein (and then Vaughan) dared give us hope by turning us into a quality test outfit, capable of going anywhere (except Oz) and winning, but since then we are just back to the mediocrity, underperforming, uncertainty and poor standards that I had once accepted.

I never minded us losing one day series as we could take the moral high ground that we were still good at the proper 5 day stuff. Now though we can't even take that comfort and the current directionlesness (which I suspect is not a word) doesn't give me much hope for the ashes.

Where it went wrong - day the press forced Fletcher to resign. In a similar manner to those 'fans' who wanted Tilly out earlier this season, people forgot what he had achieved, took success for granted and thought the grass was greener.

Now THAT's how to win a one-day series! Flintoff hat-trick, thank you very much! Surely no way back for the West Indies now?
