Walsall players have a habit of scoring hattricks against us, I've seen three IIRC.

Oztumer as has been discussed, Demontagnac in a 5-2 pasting at their place in 2008ish, also Roger Boli also at the Bescot in 97/98.

Just realised the thread was about visiting players so apologies for going slightly off piste.

The last match that my mum was well enough to attend was the abomination under Wignall when we contrived to lose 3-0 at home to Mansfield in August 2003.

Iyesden Christie hat trick.

I've never forgiven Christie or Wignall.
Christ I witnessed that debacle, what a performance that was!:omg:

Working backwards, I think this summarises what we've found

03/03/2018 Erhun Ozrtumer Walsall 0-3
06/04/2007 Jamie Cureton Colchester 0-3
23/08/2003 Iyseden Christie Mansfield 0-3
24/04/1999 Lloyd Owusu Brentford 1-4
04/11/1997 Peter Kennedy Watford 0-3
11/11/1995 Simon Sturridge Stoke 2-4
04/02/1995 Darren Bazeley Watford 0-4
22/10/1985 Perry Groves Colchester 2-4
30/01/1977 Ian Edwards Chester 0-4
31/08/1973 Billy Jennings Watford 2-3
25/08/1969 Stuart Brace Grimsby 1-3

And that makes Stuart Brace the only person to have scored a hat trick for us and against us at Roots Hall.

He got 3 against Huddersfield on 3rd November 1973 which made him top score with 6 goals in his first 4 games for us. He ended the season with 20 league plus 2 FA Cup goals in 38 games. (5 braces :winking: and a hat trick). He had just turned 31 when he signed and we probably got that one excellent 3/4 of a season out of him. However my favourite performance from him was on boxing day 1975 when he got 2 against Col U in a feisty derby which if I remember rightly had around 45 free kicks for fouls.

You're right.

Every now and then a game of football broke out but it was always quickly extinguished.

That game wouldn't finish these days due to the number of players fighting for the early bath.

Didn't it all start in the previous season's League Cup Tie which we lost 2-0?
