Vine keen to take root at Blues

It's just a waste of time getting these players in
everyone who we have got in either don't live up to there potential or so bloody unfit ,then we wait weeks until they are fit

Rohan Ricketts said he'd join us and look what happened there. Somehow I don't think Vine is or will be like that.

On yesterdays viewing, Vine has obviously not played much first team football and was "ring rusty" but he showed some good touches when he was serviced with the ball - you could see he has played at a higher level and when fitter could do well with us. Even if not totally fit he's worth having around to come on as a sub for the last 20/25 minutes. He cannot be any worse than Harris!!!"

The same Harris that has also "played at a higher level"?
:unsure::unsure::unsure:

Oh yes. Yes he can. I'm not sure what has happened to our fans over the last few years but if someone doesn't bang in a goal every two games they are deemed useless.

Harris has 6 league goals in 16 starts (7 as sub). Shaun Goater scored 11 in 34. Those ratios are not a million miles apart. Not sure why everyone has such a downer on Neil this season, were we really expecting a 34-year-old to bang in 25 goals?

We need goal scores and even if he warms the bench for 70 mins comes on a scores the vital goal that sends us up or the worse case gets us to a wemble final its a no brainer give him a shot .And if it works out we may get him for leauge one football next season .

But many people buy a lottery ticket, don't win the lottery, then wish they hadn't spent money on the fat, lazy, underperforming, overpaid ticket and bought something from the McDonalds Pound Saver menu instead.

On a completely unrelated subject, has anyone heard from Michael Ricketts recently? :whistling:

I see your point, I didn't even realise that McDonalds had a Pound Saver menu.....

However if I won the Lottery my pound 'could' buy me 45 million 99p Cheeseburgers, then I would be like Michael Ricketts. :winking:

Luggy says in the Echo he'll think about Vines's situation today with a decision reached later today or tomorrow. Thought he would have had yeasterday thinking about it but my guess is if he's not signed today then he won't be. Or the longer it goes on the less likely it'll be. Busy day tomorrow what with training then heading to Hereford. that aside if he was on the tip of the manager's toungue he would have taken the chance with him quickly.wanting to deliberate even more suggests an unsurity and question marks.

Is Luggy into rimming? :stunned:

He can't make his mind up between Vine and Fred.

Maybe our style of play is not best suited for Vine to play in anyway, unless he is the type of player who gets goals out of no where which i suspect he is not ......it feels like a last ditch desperate signing maybe if we played to the strengths we already have
our front line would get more goals(and more goal chances)

Yeah I tend to agree with this. Benyon and Harris are both capable of getting enough goals to keep us at the right end of the league. I'm not sure that we'd ever play both together though as that would force the side to play football which Luggy seems reluctant to do. I think it will be Sampson and one other to the end of the season which I don't think is gonna be enough.

Yeah I agree he's a targetman and that is what we're short of with Corr and Dickinson out injured and Flood seemingly not ready. However if Vine isn't match fit then do we really have time to let him play his way back into fitness and form? We've got 10 games left.

I think I'd rather we loaned someone who was on the fringes of a League One squad who would have at least played a few games this season.

I'm based in Exeter and saw him a few times when he was on loan to Exeter City earlier in the season. He was not much use, unfit and not too interested. But who knows?

From Luggy's Hereford preview there appeared to be a bit of a contradiction. Whilst he claimed that he was still pondering on a decision regarding both Vine and Dailey he had earlier said, in reply to a question about signing loanees, that he "didn't hold out much hope of bringing in anyone for the weekend." Whereas that doesn't sound too hopeful for either of the players on trial Tuesday, he did say that he hoped to bring in one or two before the deadline.......but also that it was very difficult.

Vine is a targetman, isn't he? Seems like he's the perfect fit for our style of play.

Vine could be considered as a target man as he plays a lot with his back to goal although he is much better with the ball at his feet than in the air. Sadly our style of play suits a striker without feet.
