Venice

Not sure where the proposals line came from but I can assure you its a bit early for that....

Dave

We stayed on Lido a couple of years ago. Its much cheaper than the actual Island has a very good beach and is only a 15 minute water bus from Venice and the other islands, they are all worth a visit if you have time.

there are a number of hotels which you can look up bbut we did the beach one day, venice the next and the Islands the following day in a long weekend, it was a nice mix.

If you can in the evening end up near the train station side of venice, its a bit like a Covent Garden with street performers, only better and there is a good buss, unfortunately we did it the other way round and only spent a few minutes there in the evening to catch the water bus

i think Odhiambo Baker has a ring to it

When i went Dave i stayed in Verona and got the train to Venice for the day, maybe you can do it in reverse and go to Verona for the day, on takes 30 minutes.

Some really great shops and restaurants, a Collasium, Juliets balcony from Romeo and Juliet where funnily enough if you rub the boob of juliets bronze statue its meant to bring you luck.

We did the Gondaler ride which in my opinion is a must, be careful and dont accept the first price they give you as i went from 150euros to 80 in 3 swift no thank you's.

That's a good shout. I only spent a day in each city but Verona seemed far nicer than Venice. Venice is nice though. St.Mark's Square is very impressive.
