Venice

The Business
Afternoon,

Just booked flights to take Mrs DtS and I to Venice in November.

Sadly this does clash with Luton away but I think I will cope.

Anyone know Venice well. I think I am looking for hotesl near the St Marks sqaure area.

Anyone know how far / hard it is from Marco Polo Airport to the centre?

Any tips on what to do are welcomed.

Cheers

My advice would be to find a bar, start drinking and keep an eye out for updates from Luton - Southend on Sky sports news.

Methinks DtS is going to propose to Mrs DtS in the romantic location of Venice. With it being Luton that weekend, their first born will be named after the scorer of Southend's winning goal. I think Spring og Baker has a nice ring to it.

It's a short bus ride from Marco Polo to Venice and once off the bus, you can walk to the centre in about 15 minutes. In fact, you can walk everywhere very easily indeed so I'd advise you to widen your search for a hotel - you might find it far cheaper to be slightly further from the tourist traps. I can probably recommend some decent bars if I can find the Time Out guide I took with me. It's a facking fantastic place, you'll have a grea time.

I went in December and ended up using the Water Taxi from the Airport into Venice. It cost about £30 i think from memory but is a pretty cool way to get there. Theres a desk in the airport where you cough up the dough - jump in a minibus for a 2 minute ride to the harbour and jump in the boat. They all speak good english and they will drop you off virtually outside wherever you need to be

Thanks mate,

If you have hotel tips that would be ideal as you cant really tell from the intertnet if they are much cop or not....

Wouldn't that be Ginger Baker?

i think Odhiambo Baker has a ring to it

When i went Dave i stayed in Verona and got the train to Venice for the day, maybe you can do it in reverse and go to Verona for the day, on takes 30 minutes.

Some really great shops and restaurants, a Collasium, Juliets balcony from Romeo and Juliet where funnily enough if you rub the boob of juliets bronze statue its meant to bring you luck.

We did the Gondaler ride which in my opinion is a must, be careful and dont accept the first price they give you as i went from 150euros to 80 in 3 swift no thank you's.
