This lad Dan Walker? Anyone know if he will make it, or will be ready for the seniors sometime soon? Turns 19 next week I believe... So many u18s & u-19s making their debuts in the Premiership, why do our players seem to develop so late?

Must be a better option than JW?

Walker look better than JW as JW done **** all every time he come on as sub, I would expect him to chase after a loose ball or pressure the defenders to make mistakes etc but he does neither, which I expect from a ex youth players who is bursting a guts stay in the team.

Exactly this, I've never understood our reluctance to good the yoof a go if their impressing lower down the ranks. Would've been nice to see some of the talent Ricky Duncan has produced down the years having a few games in the seniors before their snapped up by big teams. Might even raise their value slightly aswell.

I know a certain other striker for us in the past who didn't really chase after loose balls or pressure the defenders without the ball much either. Freddy Eastwood. I think JW should be cut a little slack. He's not the sort of striker who creates his own chances, and Phil Brown's SUFC does not create the sort of chances that JW is good at getting on the end of.

Next time he comes on as a sub, spend 5 minutes watching him like I have done a couple of times this season. Just him and no-one else for 5 minutes. His off-the-ball movement, and his runs into space off the shoulder of the last defender are very intelligent, but no-one looks up to try to pick him out and you can see by his body language that he gets very frustrated. He screams for someone to pick out his runs but it never happens and just like our other strikers, he gets frustrated and ends up coming too deep in search of the ball which just makes us even more blunt in the opposition half than we already are. Unless Phil Brown gets his players looking up and attempting some positive and penetrating forward passes, JW will never thrive in his team.

I'd really like to see Dan Walker get a chance in the first team squad. He's notched bags of goals for the U18s, along with Norman Wabo. Would like to see Walker, Wabo, Nico Cotton, Sonny Coutts and Dan Matsuzaka coming into Phil Brown's thoughts at some point this season. We hear good things about all of them and it'd be good to see them slowly blended into the First Team along with Bridge and Kyprianou over time.

For all the criticism he gets, I don't think PB can take much for giving youth a chance. I can't remember any other time as a supporter where we have had as many youngsters given a chance.

Don't think Dan Walker will be the next guy to make the step up to the 1st team bench, think Rene Batlokwa is more likely. I like Nico Cotton too but hear he isn't a great professional and is a bit of a handful.
