UNCLE RON TO SPLASH THE CASH

Sorry to differ. Whilst I feel comfortable seeing Nik Nak on the left of midfield, I personally would not like to see him at left back ever again. We need cover for LB, but Nik Nak isn't it. IMHO.

Not sure I want this. That would entail a Premier$hite finish and that would entail us being in the Premier$hite, rendering my name plain silly. Can't say it's the best as it is but I like being the president!

Fair point OS. I was just pointing out options that we currently have. Can't imagine Nicky would be any good as a left back in League 1. The standard of wingers is better and more consistent among clubs.

I suppose, based on my post, I reckon we could do with a left back, right midfielder who plays like a wide player and a striker. Haven't decided whethere any of these should be a replacement or competition. Probably would be diffficult to manage.

It's an interesting time and it seems as though we won't be squabbling over the freebies.

Personally I think tomorrow will be an interesting day when Tilson informs Jupp and Nicolau that they won't be offered anything. Can't see either of them being retained personally.

I think the priority positions are a right back and a forward. Wilson has had a good enough season to justify a new contract and a start next year. The forward is obviously a priority and needs to be either a threat of pace or a presence in the box. Harris or Holt will do nicely.

I don't think we can afford to bring in any players in midfield with the number we presently have, though cover in wide positions will be no doubt be sought.

What about Blewitt from West Ham? I have no idea what he's like, but Tilly/Brush saw something in to bring him in towards the end of the season as cover.

With West Ham now winning promotion to the Premier$%&*e, his chances of progressing there must be slimmer than ever before.

I can't see us 'splashing the cash'. Yeah we'll probably get a couple of players for fees, but I imagine they'll be the normal fees we pay, and then we'll have 3 or perhaps 4 freebies.

Interestingly enough, Lincoln's entire squad nearly are out of contract, and there could be 1 or 2 there that would make good signings for us. I'm thinking along the lines of Gain, Morgan or Futcher.

Quote[/b] (northbankblue @ May 30 2005,13:18)]And what about a return of Chrissy Powell as a left back if the irons fail to go up?
I'd say we have a better chance of getting Sir (please address him by his correct title) Powell if the Hammers do go up.
I agree. Who knows who Tilly will be looking to snap up - if it was me however I'd try to nab some of the following:

Neil Harris
Chrissy Powell
Paul Morgan
David Beresford
Martin Bullock
Mitchell Cole

Let's just wait and see - IMHO we're only actually 2 maybe 3 QUALITY signings from being a side who can quite realistically challenge for the top 6 in our first year back at a higher level.

Sir Powell may think that, having just come out of the Prem, he's not fit enough to continue at that level. Would be great to see him back at the Hall, but it depends on his wage demands.

Martin Bullock would be nice on the left, he ran us ragged at the MillStad but to be fair, the squad wasn't half as good as it is now. The Centre Line at the moment is Top 6 League 1 Standard... Flavs, Barrett, Spinner, Benno, Maher and Eastwood have proved that this season. All that is needed is to Sort cover for these positions, improve the Wings and a diffrent option up front.

There was no chance of Jupp being allowed to go even before Staurday.  Fully expect him to be offered a new contract along with most of those out of contract.

Bear in mind we'll have the transfer window next season and will need a larger squad.  Therefore I think it will just be a case of getting rid of the real fringe players such as Corbett, Husbands and Kightly (and possibly Bramble and Nicolau) and then adding 4 or 5 decent new players that can compete for the first team from day one.

I'm assuming of course that all those offered new contracts agree to re-sign. I'd have thought there will be a few League Two clubs who will be interested in Flavs, Dudfield, Jupp and Wilson in particular.

It's not so much about transfer fees these days in the lower leagues so I don't expect us to pay out any transfer fees. However, the key thing will be the wages we can offer. Hopefully we can offer decent enough wages to attract some quality recuits without putting us out of business.

Do you really think Flahavan is top 6 league one standard? What about dropping those two crosses from which Wilson and Bentley had to clear off the line?

Im sure he played on the left against us in the LDV, i think he can play either side and can Cut inside... Like Gower's been trying to do all season
