Transfer News, Gossip & Speculation Transfer Thread - Summer 2025 Edition.

Transfer news
Thanks. In defence of the York chairman, he donated £10,000 of his own money to us when we needed it most. The money went to pay the players' wages, something our own chairman deemed unnecessary. (The York fans had a collection at our away game too.)
The York fans are fine the chairman's gesture a positive one but watch him annoy people this season. He got his mum to write a statement recently forgetting York benefitted from same rules and play offs only a couple of years ago. Go well.

As you love us so much, don't fancy sending us Fondop to really cement your love do you? Cheers mate.
Mike joined us the season we went down signed by Sheridan but got injured and only played 3 games. Hes only one of two players still with us (Will Sutton the other) since then he has become a bit of a cult hero and despite being released last season then re signing when Mellon had more £ to play with he only had a 12 month deal. He is infuriating at times as does some really daft clumsy stuff but gives 100% every game and his goals been invaluable this season winning most of our awards. He is discussing a new deal and most hope he will sign but its far from certain with only 9 in contract from last year and offloading some dross. Nuttall, Wiloughby terrble Unsworth signings on big money. Gods Number 9 as he is known will want a longer deal you would imagine. Irony is he could make a lot more as has an Actuary degree 1st so far from the thick lad many paint him as. Many think we will loan Billy Waters out this season along with Mat Worthington and Josh Kay none of whom got near the team late on in season. Reid is an odd one scored a lot for Wealdstone but released. Good luck.

Anyone else a tad worried we don’t seem close to any others except. Certain Bulgarian?
No point in worrying it’s all part of football we support our team through good & bad and we’ve certainly had some Very Bad over the last few years But plenty to look forward to now we have our team and a great group backing Southend United COYB

Even in the absolute worst case scenario and we start the season tomorrow after losing Gus and not signing anyone, I still have faith the team below would beat most teams:

Hayes

Taylor Crowther Ralph

Wind KAF Husin Coker Bridge

Kendall Hopper

Subs: Collin, Gubbins, Miley, Morton, Leon, Walker

This categorically won't happen, as we will strengthen. However, your post was about if we are worried. We don't need to be, we have a good nucleus of a squad that we will steadily add to and improve the 11 and squad that I posted above.

No. There will be ITKs who are keeping their cards close to their chest this year. There was a certain twitter account that was getting everyone's backs up over the last few years so I think Still & Co are looking to make sure things are done without a chance for leaks and gazumping.

There will be plenty of players we're interested in, missing out on the top-top targets is frustrating but inevitable when EFL clubs swoop. We aren't in the bargain bin yet.

Early days but the names being mentioned won't touch the sides of the extra 30 odd points required to catch up with Barnet and Yorks points totals last season. I'm ambivalent about Bonne signing until I hear Dackers or a bloke from a bottom half NLS side as the alternative. Jeez. Let's get Bonne in.

Collin has to be number 1 imo

It wasn't a set in stone team. More of the ones available and not recovering from injury. Yes, I'd probably swap Collin and Morton. But the point is valid, we have a strong squad and we don't need to be worried that we haven't signed ten players.

The reason the likes of Sutton have signed so many is because it went so terribly wrong last season. There are real alarm bells if a team is having to sign so many players.

I'd love to see Dackers back. Still a young lad, excellent work rate and a right handful when he left us. Reckon Parillon can pick him out in the box.
I think there's more support for Dackers on here than people think. Everyone's looking for these great strikers thatll cost a mini fortune, Spasov and Dackers would improve us i feel.
If you cant sign the Wayne Rooney of the NL then complimenting what you have already, i feel Marcus would do a better job bacķ to goal than Hopper and because our delivery and build up is slow, itll benefit.
Rather this than bring back Hobson. Thats a no from me.
They are not better than what we have. Maybe different to what we have and, of course, add depth. Really depends on whether that is satisfactory progress to deliver desired outcomes. It should certainly be consistent with sustainable investment and bringing in younger players with potential.

We don’t know we aren’t in fairness. The ITKs won’t get every bit of info, so it doesn’t mean we’re not in discussions with players just because it’s not been leaked.
Thing is players don’t have to be named do they? We are in talks with a CB who was in L2 last year, a CF who was Jon loan in the NL or whatever would indicate we are close to some signings? Can we assume therefore we aren’t? No idea. I think the first checkpoint is the start of training as surely where possible we will want players in for then if indeed we are looking to get business done early.
