Transfer News, Gossip & Speculation Transfer Thread - Summer 2025 Edition.

Transfer news
Agreed. Our fans obsession with crowds is borderline weird. Crawley at the moment are more attractive than us. So are Fleetwood, Salford, Stevenage and Colchester. They are all league clubs and we are not. Until we get back to the EFL that won't change, and we will continue to miss out on players to those sorts of clubs.
Agreed.

I'd say a footballer players 1st instincts when going for a new club are

  1. Wage and length of contract for job security
  2. Location
  3. League / Likely league position (relegation promotion etc)
  4. Manager / Management at the club
  5. Style of play (will they get played / played how they like to play)
  6. Size of the fanbase
I'd even suggest there could well be even a few more that pushes how well supported the club is further down.

Well with Ridgewell, just asking him to run to the half way line and back would've done the trick. It's a combination of data/scouting and other things. The issue is the speed of turnaround.
That's the key. Should be making sure that any signings are absolutely right for us - playing data, personal background etc., but that has to be done at speed if we don't want to miss out.

Obviously dithering around left the window open for the L2 side to swoop in, but equally it would've made it easier for him to look elsewhere when someone came knocking if he's said "I'm in" and we've said "hmm maybe, let us get back to you once we've confirmed your xGA looks good".

I'm not saying he would have, but if we'd have made it clear he's our top target that we're desperate to sign he'd have had slightly more reason to turn down the L2 side if they came knocking before the deal was signed.

A two part fumble really.
This post is a load of bollocks.

Catch 22…

We need quality signings to get back in the FL, but need to be a FL to attract quality players.

Money talks though, but despite all COSU can’t seem to compete with the likes of York and FGR owners.
No, because those clubs are spending money like water and it is totally unsustainable. If their owners lose interest or have some financial misfortune, both these clubs are in serious trouble. None of us want that again now do we

My favourite was Jacob Mellis. Not realising he had a career threatening injury AND a pending court case was one for the ages.

Honourable mention to Dave Roche.

Completely agree, I've never understood the fascination about how many fans we have gone many we take away, what we've sold etc.. yes we have big numbers but we are a big club at this level. However there's a difference playing League football than national league, so I'm sure a player would want to play higher up regardless of playing in from of 7000 than 5000.

We are as far from the 'ron' method of recruitment as is possible to be. Whilst I wouldn't want Ron back for obvious mismanagement reasons, if a player was put to him convincingly, he'd get them and pay for them quickly whether he could afford it or not at that time.
Now we have data stat models to satisfy, then player budgeted cost analysis spreadsheets (tom) that it has to fit within, then ratification of the key members of the consortium including justin \shivaas and agreement of the others in their time zones. Its then on the agenda for the next video meeting for discussion between the amigos, JD, John, justin, Tom etc before a decision is made to sign off finalization of an offer.
'oh he's gone elsewhere! '
Must frustrate the hell out of kev and co.
If that's the order then it doesn't sound like data analysis is the issue since that's one of the first steps, given Cashman has been rumoured for a while the analysis could have finished weeks ago.

It sounds more like the issue is that too many people that can't be got a hold of quickly need to sign off on a transfer, that's where things need to be made more efficient.

We attract bigger gates than most but some clubs have more money at their disposal. FGR anyone?

Do we know why Cashman turned us down? As it might be for any number of reason(s) unless someone really knows why it is surely pointless to speculate.

Likelihood of being in the starting 11.
Likelihood of being in the matchday squad.

Although that is partly covered by your list.

Of course not but somehow they all seem to survive without too much of a problem,
